Chester Harold (Chet) Ellenberger, 71, of 229 Dry Hollow Road, Warriors Mark, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 15, 1932 in Warrior Mark, he was the son of Ella Perditha (Betty) Harpster Ellenberger and Raymond Charles Ellenberger.
On July 13, 1957 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Altoona, he wed Mary Theresa (Zeak) Ellenberger, who survives.
He had served in the Army 512th Engineering Department Truck Company from 1952 to 1954.
He was a member of the Pine Grove VFW No. 5825 and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Co.
He enjoyed camping a traveling.
He had been employed at Penn State University in the agronomy department, retiring in 1977 and later, a self-employed truck driver for three years, followed by his employment as a driver for Bulkmatic Transportation in Bellefonte, where he retired in 1997.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susan Ann Owens of Stormstown; three sons, Jerry Lynn of Warriors Mark, Randy Lee of Huntingdon Furnace, and Rick Harold of Penna Furnace; a sister, Connie Lea Harrison of White, Ga.; two brothers, Terry Lee Ellenberger of Warriors Mark, and Ronnie Lou of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and his grandson.
A memorial service will be held at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home in Warriors Mark at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2003 with Pastor Sharon Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will follow in Ross Cemetery in Ferguson Township.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
