Although Patsy Cline’s life ended early and tragically forty-two years ago, her music lives on, still spanning the gap between country and pop, still attracting new fans from every generation. The Tyrone Community Players are proud to bring Patsy Cline’s music to Tyrone through its upcoming musical production of “Always…Patsy Cline.”
This unique show by Ted Swindley is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger, who will be portrayed by veteran TCP actress and musical director, Jennifer DeCoste.
Patsy Cline will be sung and played by Kate Coltabaugh, who has in the past few years been seen on TCP’s stage in numerous productions. The production is being directed by Ed Kuhstos, who recently directed the Tyrone Area School District’s production of “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
Music director is Brett Keith and stage manager is John Coltabaugh.
Louise takes a look back at her fan-into-friend relationship with Patsy, beginning with their first meeting at a Houston concert in 1961 and ending with the singer’s death in a plane crash in 1963.
The show combines humor, sadness, reality and a host of Patsy’s wonderful songs. For those who remember Patsy while she was alive, this is a nostalgic journey back in time. For those who are too young to remember, this brings back the thrill of what seeing her was like and what she meant to her original fans.
If you are a Patsy Cline fan, you won’t want to miss this production. The show will be performed in dinner theater style at the Saint Mathew’s Social Hall in Tyrone on Friday, August 8 and Saturday, August 9, 2003.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 P.M. and the show will begin at 8:00 P.M. For an enjoyable evening that will include a fine meal and an evening with Patsy Cline, call (814) 684-ART2 (2782) for ticket reservations.
