There has been much debate locally involving the lack of things to do in the Tyrone area. All summer long, both Blair and Huntingdon counties feature everything from a fair to festivals and annual events, concerts and fireworks held at the area amusement parks.
The Daily Herald, in conjunction with our sister paper, The Daily News in Huntingdon, have compiled information and stories of all the summer events in the two adjoining counties. Our summer fun guide features eight pages of everything from schedules for the Huntingdon County Fair to Tyrone’s weekly Summer Concerts in the Park.
“It’s a tabloid that can be kept and even hung on your refrigerator so you can refer to it during the summer.” said Patty Hyde, advertising representative for The Daily Herald.
The guide was produced for the first time last year and just included information for up and down Interstate 99. This year it expanded to include Huntingdon County because of all the events in and around Huntingdon and Raystown Lake.
Some of the stories contained in the guide include all the activities at DelGrosso Park, more history of Fort Roberdeau, The Huntingdon County Arts Festival, and the schedule at Lakemont Park.
The guide also features advertisers that are in and around all the area’s events.
One of the area’s larger events, Creation Festival has been moved from Mount Union to the Hershey area. The yearly week-long Christian music festival is celebrating its silver anniversary this year and had to move due to wet ground conditions and mud.
“It’s another one of our locally produced products to entertain and keep our readers informed.” added Hyde. “We hope people enjoy it, use it and have a great summer.”
