The real estate taxes will remain the same for property owners in the Bellwood-Antis School District.
Last evening, the board of supervisors unanimously approved a 2003-04 budget with real estate millage remaining the same at 86 mills per one dollar of assessed valuation or $8.60 per $100 of assessed valuation.
Finance committee chairperson John Shaffer Jr. moved for approval that the taxes under the Local Enabling Act 511 be re-enacted for the 2003-04 fiscal year as follows: Earned Income Tax at one-hlf of one percent; Real Estate Transfer Tax at one-half of one percent; Occupational Privilege Tax at $5 per taxable; Occupational Flat Tax at $10 per taxable; Mechanical Device Flat Tax at various assessments; and Per Capita Tax at $5 per taxable.
The following final budgets were also adopted: General Fund, $12,276,801; Athletic, $177,200; Cafeteria, $523,947; Capital Reserve, $1,098,113; and Capital Project, $1,410,000.
In other financial business, the board unanimously approved (with members Donna Tyler and Linda Cherry absent);
•to transfer $1,500,000 (designated as surplus funds) from the general fund to the capital reserve account June 20 for the purpose of paying future debt service;
•to accept the quote from Bollinger Insurance to provide athletic and student accident insurance for the 2003-04 school year at the following rates: athletic/activity, $5,775; student, school time, $20; and student, 24 hours, $75. In 2002-03, athletic was $5,500, school time was $20 and 24-hour was $75;
•accepted the ow bid of $43,633 from Precision Sports Surfaces, Inc. of Charlottesville, VA to apply a new srayed-on surface and lining to the track as per the bid specifications, including payment of prevailing wage rates. SRI Sports Tracks of West Berlin, N.J. was the other bidder at $47,575;
•approved a Network Support Agreement with PC Works Plus effective immediately for 24-hours per week at an hourly rate of $45.60 per hour with a total cost not to exceed $56,908.80.
The board also:
•approved the adoption of English and Social Studies textbooks for 2003-04. Books from pulishers Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, Holt, Rineholt and Winston and AGS Publishing were chosen for students in grades 7 through 12;
•approved Dr. Donald Miller’s appointment as school district dentist for student dental examinations for the 2003-04 school year at a cost of $4.75 per student examination;
•approved Dr. greg Kimble as school district physician for the 2003-04 school year at a cost of $7 per student examination.
