Numerous unique children and teen summer camps are scheduled for this summer at Quest Haven Lodge.
According to program director Lori Walk, this is the second year for the programs at Quest Haven, and new and exciting activities are planned for four separate children and teen camps.
Next week from June 9 – 13 there is a scheduled Kid Quest Camp for children in kindergarten through third grade. This 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. day camp provides an array of activities for the children to learn from including nature activities, arts and crafts, Christian activities, team building activities, scavenger hunts, swimming and more. Registration for this week-long camp is $100.
“One of the things we’re really excited about is one of the nature activities we do is the kids learn about white-tail deer and get to bottle-feed fawns and stuff like that,” said Walk. “That’s something different they can’t do somewhere else.”
The next camp is scheduled for the week of June 16 – 20. This is a Pre-teen overnight camp for children in grades four through six. Campers will arrive at 10 a.m. Monday morning and stay until Thursday evening at 6 p.m. During their stay, the kids will concentrate on the same outdoor activities and arts and crafts as the other camps, but the activities will be geared to their specific age group. There will also be a low ropes course and a paint ball maze to challenge the kids all week long. Registration for this camp is $150.
The week of June 30 to July 3 there is a scheduled Leadership Training Camp for interested students in grades nine through twelve, and students who have just graduated are also welcome. This overnight camp is for kids of any Church, and starts at 10 a.m. on Monday morning and ends on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Registration for the camp is $150.
“It’s a Christian activities camp that’s concentrated on being a leader among their peers and sharing and living out their faith, identifying different styles of biblical leaders, walking the walks and talking the talks of disciples of Christ,” said Walk.
The final camp scheduled for the summer is for the week of July 14 to July 19. The Teen Quest Camp is for students in grades six through twelve, and campers will arrive on Monday at 3 p.m. and stay until Saturday at 10 a.m. Registration for this camp is $175. The Teen Quest Camp provides Christian experiences in a fun and adventurous atmosphere.
Walk said the purpose of the camp is to “challenge kids both spiritually and personally on different adventure activities.”
Throughout the week-long camp there are scheduled wilderness adventures, teen rallies, praise and worship bands, camp fires, small group time, team building exercises and guest speakers.
The Quest Haven Ministry Team will lead Teen Quest Camp and Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministries will also be working with the teens during the camp.
Quest Haven Lodge offers new log cottages for the teens to stay overnight. Also, the ropes challenge course, paint ball maze, volleyball court and amphitheater are all new additions to the facilities this year. There is even a camp store with a 50s-style theme called The Hop Shop that is new.
There is also a special incentive for the summer camps. $20 will be deducted from the price of a child’s camp registration fee for each person they get to register for the camp.
