The summer entertainment season begins Wednesday, June 11, with the Tyrone Arts Council’s “Afternoon Delights” series. Tonia McClellan will be the featured performer at the City Hotel Park stage beginning at noon.
McClellan is one of the newest artists on the Christian music scene. A veteran of several musical groups, Tonya decided to begin a solo career several years ago. Her debut solo release, “For the Love of God” has received an enthusiastic response. Her unique style and multi-octave range is described as “spine-chilling” and her program provides entertainment for all ages with a variety of music.
“I grew up in a very Christian oriented family where music was a large part of our lives,” said McClellan. “My sister, Karen, and I would sit for hours entertaining our parents, so the move into a performing career is just a natural step.”
The “Afternoon delights” concerts are held in Tyrone’s City Hotel Park, Pennsylvanian Avenue and 10th Street, beginning at noon. Seating is available or audience members may bring a chair. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in Joybeans Coffee Shop, 10th Street. All concert are free of charge and made possible by a grant from the Pennsylvnaia Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, and Tyrone Borough.
The next concert will be June 18 featuring the “Music and Magic” of Dennie Huber. For additional information contact the ARTS-LINE office at 684-ART2.
