Priding itself on quality and everyday low prices, the new Homestyle Furniture and Appliances opened its doors for business last Thursday on 10th Street in downtown Tyrone in the old Warner TV building.
Ray Mills of Tyrone, a 1964 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, plans for an official grand opening sometime in July.
“We’re off to a fantastic start with customers coming through the door and they are happy with our prices.” Mills told The Daily Herald yesterday. “Every day we will provide quality furniture, bedding and appliances at reasonable prices.”
Bedding arrived last Tuesday, the furniture on Thursday and appliances will be arriving soon as Mills continues to negotiate with Whirlpool. Furniture and bedding featured in the store come from United Sleep Products based in Denver and United Furniture located in Okolono, Mi. Ray said “it is the same or better quality products and our prices are better than the chain stores.”
The store currently features sofas, love seats, recliners, coffee and end tables, dining rooms and lamps. Complete bedroom sets are available and everything that isn’t on the show room floor can be ordered for customers. And more furniture is arriving almost daily.
When asked why he wanted to open this store? Mills stated, “I saw the need for a furniture store in Tyrone and when Leo Warner retired, their weren’t going to be appliances in town either. So we put the two together in one store.” Mills added, “we plan to keep growing as much as we can. Our first month we wanted to just open and track sales. The people of Tyrone have been great and we believe we’ve come up with a quality product that will make everyone happy.”
The hours of operation for Homestyle Furniture and Appliances are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., closed on Sunday.
All of us at The Daily Herald welcome this business to town and invite you to support it.
