The Tyrone junior high track team split with Chestnut Ridge on Monday at Tyrone.
The undefeated Tyrone boys bumped Chestnut Ridge 68.5-45.5, while the junior high Lady Eagles fell to the Chestnut Ridge girls 57-46.
Nicholas Patton led the way for the Little Eagles with firsts in the 100, 200 and long jump. Courtland Pannebaker won both the 800 and 1600. Christian Getz won 110 hurdles. The Tyrone 1600 relay team of Markus Wagner, Adam Flick, Richard Crabtree and Pannebaker also won. Adams won the high jump and Aaron Gurekovich won the discuss.
On the girls side, Brittany Friday won the 100 hurdles, Alyssa Brisbin won the 1600 and the 400 relay team of Friday, Sarah Reese, Deanna Gummo and Keturah Weaver crossed the finish line in 59:93 for the victory.
“Our kids did a great job tonight,” said Tyrone junior high track and field coach Tammy Wills. “We had a lot of personal best with both the boys and girls team. Junior High Track is all about getting to know the events and finding your niche. With each meet new talent emerges as the kids get more comfortable with the events they have been doing and try different ones.
“The boys team is undefeated so far and we have had several district qualifiers on both teams. I am so proud of all these kids, we have a great group this year and they are all such hard workers I am really looking forward to seeing how the rest of out season unfolds.”
