The Tyrone Junior Varsity Baseball Team visited Spring Mills to play Penns Valley on Monday afternoon for its second regularly scheduled game of the 2008 Campaign.
The Golden Eagles pounded out nine hits and scored seven runs to earn the victory over the Rams by a score of 7 to 5 and even their record at 1-1.
Three Tyrone players each had two hits a piece, including Korry Cowher, Jeremy Miller and Derrick Dasher.
Jared Templeton, Ian Murray, and A.J. Welsh each recorded a hit a piece in the contest.
Ian Murray also laid down a perfect bunt to score a run early in the contest.
Kerry Cosher earned the pitching victory for the Golden Eagles going six complete innings while allowing only one run on five hits and fanning nine Penns Valley batters.
Robbie Marlette and Jarred Templeton also made some solid defensive plays at shortstop and first base.
Trevor Jackson came in to close the deal in the seventh inning, and did so only after several errors and a handful of “Texas League” hits.
The Golden Eagle junior varsity are away in action again today against the Central Dragons with the game to be played at the Sunroof Manner field in Duncansville.
