{"id":1216,"date":"2008-07-25T12:41:29","date_gmt":"2008-07-25T16:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p=1216"},"modified":"2008-07-25T12:41:29","modified_gmt":"2008-07-25T16:41:29","slug":"civil-war-era-music-to-be-part-of-colonel-crowther-day-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=1216","title":{"rendered":"Civil war era music to be part of  Colonel Crowther Day Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-1216 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?attachment_id=1217'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/crowther-union-signal-corpsw-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?attachment_id=1218'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/crowther-logan-guard3w-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Music will fill the air during the Colonel Crowther Day Weekend event that will take place Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, at the upper part of Reservoir Park in Tyrone.<br \/>\nHowever, anyone looking for what passes for music today, won\u2019t hear it at the encampment.<br \/>\nWhat visitors will hear is music from the civil war era played on original instruments.<br \/>\n\u201cOnce again this year The Logan Guard will be with us,\u201d stated Bob Hileman, Jr., President of The Colonel Crowther Foundation.<br \/>\n\u201cMany people who attended the concert at the amphitheater last year know what a fine band they are,\u201d Hileman continued, \u201cand this year you will see and hear them perform in a casual camp setting.<br \/>\n\u201cThis brings to life the way that soldiers in the civil war heard performances by their regimental bands.\u201d<br \/>\nMembers of the Mason\/Dixon Brass Band will join the Logan Guard.<br \/>\nTogether they will perform a concert in camp on Saturday evening, August 2, at 7:15 p.m.<br \/>\nThe public is invited to bring a folding chair and join in to conclude the day with what is sure to be another outstanding performance by these excellent musicians.<br \/>\nA demonstration of Union Army Signal Corps communication practices will be held this year.<br \/>\nCommunication by flag signals over distances small and large was a necessity for the army when telegraph was not available.<br \/>\nA member of The Keystone Regiment who is an expert in this type of communication will give a verbal presentation followed by an exhibit of the methods used by soldiers in the Union Army.<br \/>\nThese demonstrations will take place in the small field next to the encampment at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.<br \/>\nMark the calendar now in order to remember to come to the upper end of Reservoir Park in Tyrone during the weekend of August 2 and 3 to witness the Union Army Signal Corps demonstration and the excellent music that will be performed by The Logan Guard and the Mason\/Dixon Brass Band.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Music will fill the air during the Colonel Crowther Day Weekend event that will take place Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3, at the upper part of Reservoir Park in Tyrone.
