{"id":1252,"date":"2008-07-28T10:33:01","date_gmt":"2008-07-28T14:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p=1252"},"modified":"2008-07-29T10:34:31","modified_gmt":"2008-07-29T14:34:31","slug":"audition-dates-announced-for-tcp-production-of-the-octette-bridge-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=1252","title":{"rendered":"Audition dates announced for TCP production of The Octette Bridge Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first show in the exciting and innovative new season for the Tyrone Community Players is the poignant, madcap comedy, The Octette Bridge Club.<br \/>\nOn alternate Friday evenings, eight sisters meet to play bridge and gossip.<br \/>\nThe first act takes place in 1934 and the show spans a decade following the growth, idiosyncrasies and eccentricities of these eight very distinctly individual women.<br \/>\nAuditions for this remarkable performance opportunity for women are set for Sunday and Monday, August 3 and 4 in The Building, home of the TCP, located at 1019 Logan Ave., Tyrone, under the direction of Jim McDonald.<br \/>\nThe cast consists of one man and eight women.<br \/>\nAll roles in this delightful play are open and everyone is encouraged to audition. Experience is not necessary, just a desire to perform.<br \/>\n\u201cI am scheduling auditions on an individual basis, one person at a time,\u201d says McDonald. \u201cNo pressure to read in front of a room filled with other actors. It will just be me and someone to read with you. I believe this relieves some of the audition stress and will help actors and actresses with less experience audition on an equal footing.\u201d<br \/>\nTo schedule an audition please phone Jim McDonald at 684-1168.<br \/>\nAuditions will be scheduled between 7 and 9:30 p.m. both evenings with call backs, if necessary, scheduled for the following Monday, August 11 at 7 p.m.<br \/>\nScripts for perusal purposes are available by phoning the ArtsLine at 684-ART2 or Jim at 684-1168.<br \/>\nThe character breakdown for The Octette Bridge Club is:<br \/>\n\u2022 Robert Foster &#8211; a photographer in his 20s or 30s. He is friendly, polite and Focused. (In Act 1 only);<br \/>\n\u2022 Martha &#8211; the eldest sister in her mid 50s to 60s. She is stern, judgmental and distant;<br \/>\n\u2022 Mary &#8211; Mary is in her early 50s to 60s. A typical younger sister, she is quiet, loving, kind and delicate;<br \/>\n\u2022 Nora &#8211; Nora, whose age spans late 40s to 50s, is a decisive woman, upbeat caring and confident;<br \/>\n\u2022 Connie &#8211; the joker in her mid 40s to 50s, Connie is a jovial, witty realist with a bad back;<br \/>\n\u2022 Alice &#8211; aged in her early to mid 40s, Alice is a gossip, very judgmental, a woman who knows everyone else\u2019s business;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ann &#8211; Ann is a school teacher in her early 40s to 50s. Disciplined, straightforward and disciplined;<br \/>\n\u2022 Lil &#8211; Lil is a pretty, adventurous extrovert 40 to 50 years old.
