Tyrone\u2019s Junior High Basketball Team visited Hollidaysburg, on Wednesday, and traveled to Lewistown Thursday, splitting the pair of games with a win at Lewistown and losing to the undefeated Tigers.
\nHollidaysburg\u2019s Junior High Basketball Team definitely fit their mascots name aptly as the Tigers, who are soundly undefeated, handled the Eagle\u2019s 67-32.
\nAlthough the Eagle\u2019s never quit playing the entire game, the Tigers outmatched Tyrone in almost every position on the court.
\n\u201cHollidaysburg has an unbelievable junior high squad,\u201d said Tyrone Junior High Coach Stever. \u201cThey play the game at a level of speed and skill that was quite an experience for our team. We really benefited from this game.\u201d
\nJim Ferguson had a double-double this afternoon with 13 points and 12 rebounds; while teammate Rich Stever scored 11 points and did a tremendous job handling their intense man pressure at the point.
\nAt Lewistown, the Eagle\u2019s took some of their experience from the game with the Tigers and got out running at the tip-off and pounced on the Panthers early 14-6 after the first period.
\n\u201cWe decided to learn from the lesson the day before and get out and use our speed today,\u201d said Stever, \u201cand it paid off.\u201d
\nJD Dorminy put up 16 points and eight steals in an indescribable effort.
\n\u201cJD out hustled every player in the gym today,\u201d said Stever, \u201che played one heck of a game. Also, our man defense was stifling as their two best players were held to just two points\u201d
\nSteve Franco put in 11, and Jared Templeton scored eight in an all round team effort as the Eagle\u2019s soundly defeated the Panther\u2019s on their home court 48-25.
\nThe Eagle\u2019s also won the first contest defeating Lewistown 39-23. Richard Crabtree continued to light it up again today leading the Eagle\u2019s with 18 points, followed by Nick Patton\u2019s eight. Jordan Faretta had another solid game with eight assists.
\nThe Eagle\u2019s have a lot of action scheduled in their final week of the regular season with their final road trip to Indian Valley Monday, followed by a three game home show with Philipsburg-Osceola on Wednesday, Penn\u2019s Valley on Thursday, and Bellwood Antis on Friday.<\/p>\n
