Mr. Rodgers was born September 20, 1916 in Glasgow, Pa.<br \/>\nHe married Eleanor Hoover on October 7, 1947.<br \/>\nHe was a 1935 graduate of Tyrone High School and served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant during WWII.<br \/>\nMr. Rodgers moved to Hyattsville, Maryland where he lived for 36 years.<br \/>\nHe first worked as a mechanic for the WMA Transit Company and he later worked for and retired from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority in 1981.<br \/>\nHe moved to the Punxsutawney area and lived in Big Run for 15 years.<br \/>\nHe was a member of the Paradise Church of Christ. He loved his family and enjoyed working on cars and playing checkers.<br \/>\nHe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor, two daughters: Jenny White and her husband Roger of Crownsville, Maryland and Linda Quay of Frederick, Maryland; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Anna Stewart and her husband Glen of Buffalo, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services were held at the Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills, Maryland on January 14 with the Rev.
