Strait, 86, a resident of the Oaks at Westminster Woods, 360 Westminster Drive, Huntingdon and formerly of 922 Washington Street, Huntingdon, died Monday, January 14, 2008 at 11:53 p.m.<br \/>\nHe was born January 31, 1921 in Juniata Township, Huntingdon, a son of Clyde H. Strait, Sr. and Jesse C. (Atherton) Strait.<br \/>\nOn October 23, 1946 he was married to Jean L. (Miller) Strait at United Brethren Church in Tyrone by the Reverend Paul F. Mickey. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1989.<br \/>\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents.<br \/>\nSurviving are two sons and two daughters: Larry G. Strait and wife Angel of Huntingdon, Marshall R. Strait of Altoona; Suzanne R. (Strait) Wilt and her husband Dan of Altoona, Beverly E. (Strait) Miller and her husband Jamey of Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren: Terry Sorge, Leslie Heath, Amy Granda, Erin Strait, Scott Strait, Justin Strait, Bethany Wise, Joseph Shriner, Timothy Miller, Lucas Strait and Christopher Strait and 10 great-grandchildren.<br \/>\nHe was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Kenneth E. Strait, Miriam (Strait) Grove, J. Wilbert Strait, Alice (Strait) Edwards and Richard H. Strait.<br \/>\nHe attended the Huntingdon Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon at which he served the church in various offices in the Church Sunday School.<br \/>\nHe was a former member and officer of Local No. 1034 at Owens-Corning Fiberglas, a member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens, Inc., and a life member of the Huntingdon County Humane Society.<br \/>\nHe attended the Huntingdon Public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the class of 1939.<br \/>\nPrior to his military service, he was employed at the Huntingdon Silk Mill. After his return from active duty in 1946, he returned to work at the Silk Mill where he was employed until his retirement from Owen-Corning Fiberglas in 1984.<br \/>\nHe served in the US Army from 1942 until 1946 in Service Company, 132nd Infantry, attaining the rank of Technician Fourth Grade. He also served in the Military Police and received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.<br \/>\nHe enjoyed helping his son, Larry, at Strait\u2019s Hobby and Pet Shop in Huntingdon. He was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, where he transported patients to their doctors appointments. He was also a volunteer for the Huntingdon County Humane Society and helped with the construction of the current building. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.<br \/>\nFriends may call at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington Street, Huntingdon from 7 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service on Friday.<br \/>\nFuneral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend James A. Stork officiating.<br \/>\nInterment at Riverview Cemetery, 245 Standing Stone Avenue, Huntingdon.<br \/>\nIn lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions in remembrance of Mr. Strait for the Huntingdon Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1019 Moore Street, Huntingdon, Pa. 16652 or the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Rd., Huntingdon, Pa. 16652.<br \/>\nServices are under the direction of the John B.
