Gilbert C. \u201cGill\u201d Thorn, 72, of RD4 – Box 238, Tyrone, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
\nHe was born April 4, 1935 at Camden-Gauley, W. Va. a son of Ethni Clay and Clarice (Stewart) Thorn.
\nHe was married Nov. 7, 1958 to Beverly J. Gunsallus.
\nHe is survived by his wife of Tyrone; a son James Clay Thorn and his wife Karen Brown Thorn of Lititz, Pa. and a daughter Suzann J. Thorn of Atwater, Ohio.
\nTwo grandchildren, Nathanael and Aaren Thorn.
\nThree sisters, Mary Genette Duggin of Bradenton, Fla., Carolyn Murphy of Sugar Creek, Ohio and Sharon Spurling of Fredericksburg, Va.
\nHe was preceded in death by a brother Oliver and a sister Vivian.
\nHe was a graduate of Howard High School in Akron, Ohio and an Elder at Tyrone Alliance Church. A member of the N.R.A. and a former member of Gideon\u2019s and enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered for his love and commitment to his family, his dedication to serving God and his church and his enthusiasm for hunting.
\nHe had worked for Akrotech in Kent, Ohio and retired from the Akron Coca-Cola Bottling Co. as an Electrician and Service Repairman in the Vending Dept.
\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
\nFriends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the service on Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
