The Tyrone Community Players (TCP) are presenting the insensitive, unsophisticated, uproariously funny \\”Great American Trailer Park Musical\\” Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 1, 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. each night.
\nThe musical comedy will be presented at Tyrone\\’s American Legion. Because of the show\\’s adult themes, no children\u2019s tickets will be sold. All seats are $10. You can reserve tickets by calling Ramona at 684-ART2.
\nYou are invited to join in the chaos at Armadillos Acres, South Florida\\’s most exclusive manufactured housing community. The local production of the musical comedy that closed in 2005 following a successful off Broadway run is being directed by Cindy Bennett. The TCP veteran is pleased the way her powerful cast is progressing.
\n\u201cThe power of the voices in the case is amazing,\u201d Bennett said. \u201cOur sassy ladies, all of whom are from Tyrone, are blessed with tremendous musical and acting abilities . . . and they all know how to use their gifts well!\u201d
\nIt should be noted that this show is of an adult nature and not be appropriate for children.
\nThe \u2018trashy trio\u2019 of storytellers includes Alice Mulhollan as Betty, Lynn Dirkse is Linn, and Nancy Sloss is Pickles. The triplets of tackiness tell the story of the trailer park that is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll \u2013 but 100 percent soap opera-type drama.
\nMegan Wagner plays Pippi, the hot young stripper. Darcy Wilson brings the agoraphobic housewife Jeannie Garstecki to life.
\n\u201cBoth Darcy and Megan are such fun to work with. I\u2019m sure the audience will have fun watching all the ladies of Armadillo Acres!\u201d
\nThe men of the cast are just as different as the women are alike! Tyrone\u2019s Gib Lucas plays a regular guy Norbert, married to the agoraphobic Jeannie. \u201cGib\u2019s \u2018common man\u2019 characterization is a great balance to Darcy\u2019s Dr. Phil quoting persona. They are a hoot together on stage.\u201d
\nDuke, the boyfriend of Pippi the stripper who comes to Florida from Oklahoma to find his love is played by TCP new comer Jake Baskin of Altoona. \u201cJake might be young, but he\u2019s not intimidated by all the TCP veterans. Actually, he fits in well,\u201d Bennett said.
\nPaula Pheasant is the musical director for the two-act musical comedy.
\n\u201cThe energetic music is certainly different than our last show (\u201cA Closer Walk with Patsy Cline\u201d), but I am certain people will love it,\u201d Pheasant said. \u201cThe music is happy, energetic, and upbeat. I know people will enjoy the music \u2013 even though most of it is unfamiliar to them. It is a real toe-tapping show!\u201d
