The annual event will kick off at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and it’s always an exciting day for young and old alike. To accommodate the improved booth arrangement, all traffic must enter the park from Reservoir Drive.
Entertainment will begin at 10 a.m. when Altoona magician Michael DePiro takes the amphitheater stage to dazzle the crowd with his magic and illusions. At only fifteen years of age, Michael is a seasoned professional with a crew of assistants to compliment his show. He performs regularly at Granny’s Restaurant in Altoona and at many other public and private events.
At 11 a.m., the 2006-07 award winning competition team from Dance Fusion will take the stage. Under the direction of owner/instructor Lindsay Folk, the team of 30 dancers will perform a variety of dances including lyrical, hip-hop and jazz.
The Tyrone Area High School Golden Eagle Marching Band will perform at noon under the helm of first year director Mark Murphey. The band will be warming up for its appearance at the DuBois Band Competition later in the day.
At 1 p.m., local musician Kip Woodring will perform a variety of tunes, including folk, country, gospel and oldies. Kip recently took first place honors in the talent competition for adults 40 and over at Tyrone Community Day at DelGrosso’s Park.
The Uff Brothers Boom-Ba Band will delight the audience with their unique polka sound at 2 p.m. Band members include Tom Cooper, Rich Derman, Jeff “Buckwheat” Boyer, Sherman Fink, Robert “Pap” Tennis and Bernie Hand.
The final act appearing on stage will be up-and-coming musician Jon McCloskey. Jon will perform classic rock with acoustic guitar. Jon is a 1998 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.
In addition to the artists performing at the amphitheater, those attending Farm/City Day will be treated to a demonstration of chainsaw carving by artist Tim Klock from 9 a.m. to noon. Tim will be creating wooden sculptures out of logs using only an assortment of chainsaws. One of his creations will be an eagle soaring over a rock. Once completed, the sculptures will be available for sale by the Rotary Club.
Also on the agenda are children\\’s activities, hay wagon and fire truck rides, farm animals, farm machinery, produce, fund-raisers, promotions, souvenirs and home-baked goods.
As always, the 2007 Rotary Farm/City Day souvenir t-shirts, designed each year for this special event, will be available for purchase.
Since the Rotary Club of Tyrone was organized in 1939, it has made special efforts to establish and maintain close relationships between Tyrone Borough and the surrounding rural areas. Rotary members accomplished this with the establishment of Farmers’ Night, where the community members and the neighboring farmers got to know one another better in a carnival atmosphere. Over the years, Farmers’ Night evolved into Rural Urban Day and now, Farm/City Day.
For more information about this year’s event, contact Rose Black at the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office at 684-0736.

Chainsaw carving at Farm/City Day
With the use of his chainsaw, Tim Klock will be carving a light house to a soaring eagle, as well as other items for display during Tyrone Rotary\\’s Farm/City Day at Reservoir Park on Saturday.
