The Tyrone Community Players invite everyone to visit \u201cArmadillos Acres\u201d, south Florida\\’s most exclusive manufactured housing community!
\nThe local production of \u201cThe Great American Trailer Park Musical\u201d is scheduled to be presented November 1, 2 and 3 at the Tyrone American Legion. Tickets for the show can be reserved by calling the Artsline at 684-ART2.
\nAccording to a press release provided by TCP, the musical comedy closed in 2005, following a successful off-Broadway run. The New York Sun newspaper reviewed the show by saying, \u201cThe Trailer Park meets South Park in this big-hearted new musical comedy with a cheeky script and infectious score.\u201d
\nTCP\u2019s show director Cindy Bennett has a powerful cast.
\n\u201cWhen you\u2019re dealing with a show whose characters are named Pickles, Pippi and Linn (short for linoleum), you have to have some formidable females to make the show believable,\u201d Bennett said. \u201cI think \u2013 no, I know \u2013 our audience won\u2019t be disappointed with our sassy ladies, all of whom are from Tyrone.\u201d
\nBetty, Linn and Pickles tell the story of the trailer park which is \u201ca little bit country and a little bit rock and roll \u2013 but 100 percent trashy\u201d.
\nTCP would like to note that this show is of an adult nature and would not be appropriate for children.
\nThe \u201ctrashy trio\u201d of storytellers begins with Alice Mulhollan as Betty. Alice is a Players veteran and is the director of the TCP Cabaret Series.
\nLinn is Lynn Dirkse who was seen in The Taffetas Reunion, \u201cMusic, Magi, and Memories\u201d and other Tyrone musicals.
\nRounding out the \u201ctriplets of tackiness\u201d is another TCP veteran, Nancy Sloss, perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of Gertrude McFuzz in \u201cSeussical the Musical\u201d.
\nMegan Wagner will play Pippi, the hot young stripper. Megan first performed with TCP in the 2006 production of \u201cA Christmas Carol\u201d.
\nDarcy Wilson brings the agoraphobic housewife Jeannie Garstecki to life. Darcy has been seen in many Tyrone shows, including \u201cSeussical, the Musical\u201d, \u201cMy Fair Lady\u201d, \u201cGypsy\u201d and \u201cSteel Magnolias.\u201d
\nAccording to TCP, the men of the cast are just as different as the women are alike! Tyrone\u2019s Gib Lucas plays a regular guy, Norbert, married to the agoraphobic Jeannie. Gib has been involved with TCP for more than 15 years. When not appearing on stage, Gib serves as the group\u2019s sound technician.
\nA new face to Tyrone audiences will be Jake Baskin of Altoona. He plays Duke, the boyfriend of Pippi the stripper, who comes to Florida from Oklahoma to find his love. Baskin was in Altoona High\u2019s productions of \u201cFootloose\u201d, \u201cArsenic and Old Lace\u201d and \u201cThe Wizard of Oz.\u201d Jake also performed with Altoona Community Theatre previously.
\nPaula Pheasant is the musical director for the two-act musical comedy.
