The Hollidaysburg girls tennis team routed Tyrone on Monday at Hollidaysburg.
\nThe Lady Eagles were shutout 7-0 by a Hollidaysburg squad that was very experienced, returning four of their five starters from 2006.
\nAccording to Tyrone coach Mike hample, the number four singles match between Lady Eagle Elena Myers and Lauren Clapper was the only competitive match of the day.
\n\u201cElena Myers had a very competitive match,\u201d said Hample. \u201cShe was trailing only 4-3 in the second set, when the girl from Hollidaysburg won a key game to go up two games and that seemed to be the turning point in the set. Hollidaysburg is very experienced, they have a really good solid team.\u201d
\nHollidaysburg got wins from Alex Davies, Brittany Dwyer, Megan Bettwy, Lauren Clapper and Kathryn Schmidt in singles and from Amanda Marquis and Mindy Hayton and from Emily McConnell and Jesalyn Stoltz in doubles.
