Pawan K. Gupta, M.D., nephrologist, has announced he will open a practice at 3 Hospital Drive on the campus of Tyrone Hospital.\u2011
\nDr. Gupta\u2019s office will open October\u20115. Patient appointments are now being scheduled.
\nDr. Gupta is board certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine. As a Nephrologist, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases including diseases that attack the kidney\u2019s directly, as well as systemic diseases that affect kidney function such as diabetes, high blood pressure, electrolyte disturbances, and lupus .He also provides care to those requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis and kidney transplant patients.
\n\u201cI wanted to open a satellite office in Tyrone to accommodate my patients,\u201d said Dr. Gupta. \u201cTyrone will be closer in location for patients I see from communities in northern Blair County as well as communities in contiguous areas. People will also have easy access to Tyrone Hospital for testing that may be needed.\u201d\u2011 Dr. Gupta said he has also applied for privileges at Tyrone Hospital and will be available to the Tyrone Hospital medical staff to consult on patients as needed.
\nDr. Gupta currently serves as Chief of the Division of Nephrology, Dialysis, and Plasmapheresis at Altoona Regional Health System. He also served as Peer Review Committee Chairman at Altoona Regional.
\n\u2011He completed a fellowship in Nephrology at St. Luke\u2019s – Roosevelt Medical Center, an affiliate of Columbia University in New York City. He also completed a Nephrology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
\nDr. Gupta completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and at R.N.T. Medical College in India. He is a graduate of the R.N.T. Medical College in India.
\nDr. Gupta has provided educational presentations to fellow physicians at the Annual National Kidney Foundation meetings and at the American College of Physicians Meeting. Articles prepared by Dr. Gupta have been published in the Journal of Association of Physicians of India.
