{"id":3571,"date":"2007-09-07T12:00:14","date_gmt":"2007-09-07T16:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p=3571"},"modified":"2008-09-11T12:00:58","modified_gmt":"2008-09-11T16:00:58","slug":"details-announced-for-cphs-pet-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=3571","title":{"rendered":"Details announced for CPHS Pet Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pet owners from across the region are being invited to take part in this year\u2019s \u201cPet Fair\u201d as hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.<br \/>\nThe event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 16 at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg from noon to 3 p.m. A major change this year is the location at the park. The event will be held at pavilion No. 3.<br \/>\nThe fair will feature entertainment, information, food and music. Fair organizers said the event will be \u201cfun for the entire family.\u201d<br \/>\nThe fair will include a pet show, silly pet trick competition, breed rescue information booths, an \u201cAsk the Vet\u201d area (staffed by Matt Stachmus, DVM), music by Baby Boomers D.J. service, a special appearance by Typhani Russo, Miss Pennsylvania East Coast USA; pet sitter service providers, pet supply retailers, other area humane agencies and shelters, a state dog warden, clowns \u201cJeszme\u201d and \u201cSparky,\u201d a special appearance by the Sheetz Hummer (offering rides for the kids), valuable door prizes and a 50\/50.<br \/>\nSomething new will be offered this year at the food concession. Vocelli Pizza (Family Video Plaza, 6th Ave. in Altoona) will be offering pizza, strombolis, chicken tenders and a variety of soft drinks on site for fairgoers.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019re really excited about having Vocelli Pizza at the event,\u201d said CPHS Director of Fundraising\/Public Relations, Dave Hopkins. \u201cOwner\/operator Tom DeStefano and his crew make great traditional Italian food, and they\u2019ll be serving it on site hot and fresh. And a portion of the proceeds will be donated to help our animals.\u201d<br \/>\nNo reservations are needed for the food.<br \/>\nBaked goods and bottled water will be offered for sale as well by CPHS staff.<br \/>\nFairgoers are encouraged to bring their pets; however, dogs must be on leashes or restrained in a comfortable fashion, cats should be in appropriate carriers. All animals are invited to enter the \u201cPet Show\u201d competition, which will feature prize ribbons awarded in numerous categories. Entry forms are found in the Pet Fair pamphlets found at local veterinary offices, some area retailers and the CPHS shelter and thrift shop. Registration for the pet show begins at 11:30 a.m.<br \/>\nProceeds from the event will benefit the homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society shelter located at 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd. in Altoona.<br \/>\nFor more information, call 942-5402 or 942-2477.
