Yesterday couldn\u2019t have been a more beautiful day at Reservoir Park as area residents marked the symbolic end of summer at the annual Community Labor Day Picnic.
\nHundreds were in attendance to enjoy the picnic, which was filled with food, fun and fellowship for all ages.
\nThe day got started at 9 a.m. when 50\/50 tickets from the picnic committee went on sale, and registration for the attendance drawings and contest sign ups began. Tyrone Fire Police also sold raffle tickets.
\nFood booths opened at 10 a.m., with area service organizations participating, such as the Rotary Club of Tyrone, Boy Scout Troop 103, Boy Scout Troop 20, the Shriners Club and the Tyrone Women\u2019s Club.
\nIt was also another great year for the children\u2019s games, which included the balloon stomp, water balloon race, peanut scramble, hot potato contest, water race, duck race, orange race and a scavenger hunt. The land games were organized this year by Rhonda and Bill Whalen.
\nThe Schoch Hollow Band provided entertainment at the park\u2019s amphitheater, followed by a great performance by Kip Woodring.
\nAt 1 p.m., area kids were able to cool off from the hot weather by participating in this year\u2019s pool games, directed once again by Christina Pryor and Amanda Golden. This year\u2019s pool games included swimming races, relay races and the popular money dive.
\nA crowd favorite, prize bingo, was broadcast by WTRN and organized by the Tyrone Elks. Prizes for bingo were donated by area businesses, organizations and individuals.
\nTo finish out the day\u2019s activities, watermelon and pie eating contests were scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. near the concession stand.
\nThis year\u2019s picnic committee members included: Rose Black, Lloyd Patton, Connie Geraci, Deb Garner, Christina Pryor and Amanda Golden.
