In a contest that featured a total of 25 runs scored, 26 hits and 14 errors, it seemed only fitting that the final outcome would come down to the final at-bat. Corporal Miller scored a solo tally in the bottom of the seventh inning at Vets Field on Tuesday night to outlast a determined Tyrone Legion squad 13-12.
\nRyan Murphy, who had three hits in all, including a triple, singled in the winning run for Corporal Miller to finish the game.
\nTyrone Legion, who had jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in their first two at-bats, only to have that margin erased by a seven-run Corporal Miller rally in the bottom of the second inning, scored twice in the top of the seventh to draw even, 12-12, to set the stage for Murphy\u2019s game-winning base hit.
\nDave Rodland had a perfect 3-for-3 game with a double and two RBI for Tyrone Legion, while Josh Clark, Jamie Levinson, Brock Anders and Tom Simms each had two hits. Anders and Simms joined Rodland with doubles and Clark and Simms each smashed a triple.
\nLevinson, a victim of eight errors by his defense, went the distance for Tyrone Legion, striking out nine, while walking two.
\nAndy Criste, the last of three Corporal Miller pitchers, picked up the win in relief, fanning one and issuing one base on balls.
\nCriste, Murphy and Kenny Snyder cranked out three hits each for Corporal Miller, and Cory Henderson had two. Criste, Henderson and Murphy drove in two runs each.
\nTyrone Legion (3-6) will host Martin Oil (5-4) this evening at 6 p.m. at the Harry K. Sickler Athletic Park.
