ALTOONA–Exactly one year ago Thursday, Tyrone Legion defeated ReMax Realty on a walk-off two-run single by Brock Anders.
\nIt looked as though history may repeat itself, with Anders at the plate and Tyrone down by one in the final inning, but ReMax Realty pitcher Anthony Williams caught Jamie Levinson straying too far off second base for the final out of the game.
\nAnders had two hits and reached base in all four of his plate appearances in his first game back from a nose injury suffered in the season opener. Tyler Golden had three hits and drove in two while limiting ReMax to two runs over the final three innings.
\nOne of those runs scored after Tyrone was in the dugout. With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Anders threw to first in what appeared to be the third out of the inning, stranding Jon Lawlor at third. However, as Tyrone prepared to bat, they were sent back onto the field after the umpire changed the call and declared Legion first baseman Nick Wilburn had pulled his foot off the bag.
\n\u201cWe played just as good, if not better, than the team that is supposedly the best in the league,\u201d Tyone Legion manager Mike Boytim said. \u201cA couple things didn\u2019t go our way this time, but we play them two more times, and hopefully we\u2019re on the other side of the score.\u201d
\nAfter the Legion opened the scoring with a solo tally in the top of the first inning at Vets Field, ReMax took control of the game with four in the first and two more scores in the second, before Tyrone Legion started their comeback.
\nDonnie Hunter, Jamie Levinson and Randy Hoover also had two hits each for Tyrone Legion, whichouthit ReMax Realty 15-12 in the game.
\nTyrone played without starters Jesse Hertzler, Josh Clark, Doug Morrow and Matt Brooks.
\nTyrone Legion (2-2) will host Barkman Oil (1-0) today at the Harry K. Sickler Athletic Park at 6 p.m.
