The Howard Gardner American Legion Post No. 281 and Anderson-Denny VFW Post No. 4559 will once again present a Memorial Day program to remember and honor fallen comrades, both past and present.
\nOn Sunday, a memorial service will be held for members of the veterans organizations and their auxiliaries at the First Assembly of God Church. Church services with Pastor Glunt will begin at 10:30 a.m. Those veterans and auxiliary members attending the memorial service are then invited to a luncheon at the American Legion.
\nAt 1 p.m. a memorial service will be held at Baughman Cemetery.
\nServices will continue at Bald Eagle Cemetery at 1:40 p.m. and at Tyrone Colonial Courtyard at 2:30 p.m.
\nOn Monday, there will be a program at Soldier\u2019s Park in Tyrone, beginning at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the service will move across the street to the Tyrone American Legion.
\nVFW Commander Rodger Couch will welcome those in attendance.
\nDave Kaup will sing the National Anthem and Robert Grazier of the American Legion will lead the Pledge to the Flag.
\nThe invocation will be given by Pastor Glunt of First Assembly of God Church.
\nThis year\u2019s special guest speaker will be Cpt. James J. Kline, Jr., Commanding Officer, 252nd Engineer Company, Johnstown.
\nThe Honor Guard at Monday\u2019s Memorial Day service will include: Rifles – John Wilson, Bob Nein, Mark Maceno, Rick Maceno, Willie Martinez and John Brodzina, all of the American Legion and Flag Bearers – Fred Forsythe and Wayne Shirk of the American Legion and Steve Sellers of the VFW.
\nTaps will be played by Chip Dillon, S.A.L.
\nPrior to the Memorial Day service, veterans and military personnel will visit Oak Grove Cemetery.
\nOther events on Monday include the Bellwood-Antis Memorial Day parade, which is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. It is sponsored this year by the United Veterans Home Association in Bellwood.
\nInterested individuals can also stop by the Tyrone History Museum this weekend. An exhibit featuring military grave markers is currently on display. The markers are from the collection of Richard Searer which includes items from as far back as the Revolutionary War. Searer will also be on hand at the museum on Sunday.
\nThere is also a permanent exhibit featuring various military memorabilia including information on the Sheridan Troop, among other things.
\nThe museum is located in the Tyrone Railroad Station at the Tyrone Rail Park on Pennsylvania Avenue. It is open each Sunday and Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
