Mike Fleck (R-Huntingdon) reminds residents that the deadline for submitting applications for the Property Tax\/Rent Rebate program is June 30.<br \/>\nThese are the first applications available under the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006 (Act 1), which expanded eligibility for the Property Tax\/Rent Rebate Program.<br \/>\nEligible participants can receive a rebate of up to $650 based on their rent or property taxes paid in 2006.  This amount is up from $500 in previous years.<br \/>\nThe program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities.<br \/>\nThe household eligibility income limit has been raised for homeowners from $15,000 to $35,000, excluding 50 percent of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits.<br \/>\nResidents are reminded to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately.<br \/>\nThe Property Tax\/Rent Rebate program is one of four programs supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery, which dedicates its proceeds to support programs for older Pennsylvanians.<br \/>\nSince the program began in 1971, more than $3.21 billion has been paid to qualified applicants.  The 2005 Pennsylvania Department of Revenue Property Tax\/Rent Rebate report shows that more than 313,000 claims were paid for that year.<br \/>\nProperty Tax\/Rent Rebate claim forms are available by contacting Fleck\\&#8217;s office at 814-644-2996, or by visiting Fleck\\&#8217;s Web site at www.RepFleck.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
