{"id":39569,"date":"2007-02-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-02T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2007-02-02T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-02T00:00:00","slug":"Gertrude-Amanda-Summers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=39569","title":{"rendered":"Gertrude Amanda Summers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gertrude Amanda Summers, 88, formerly of RD 3 Vail and a resident of Tyrone Colonial Courtyard for the past two years, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Tyrone Hospital.<br \/>\nShe was born June 21, 1918 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Anna May (Zimmerman) Kerlin.<br \/>\nShe was married October 19, 1943 in Tyrone to R. Gilbert Summers who died October 31, 1992.<br \/>\nShe is survived by two sisters, Emogene Johnson McManigal and Ethel Eschbach both of Tyrone and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Charles W. Kerlin, Jr.<br \/>\nShe was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1937 and a member of Tyrone Christ United Methodist Church where she was active and faithful. She was church organist for many years, a Girl Scout Leader, a teacher for 50 years of the \u201cWilling Workers\u201d Sunday School Class, Director of the Junior Choir, Leader of the Youth Temperance Council, President of the Women\u2019s Christian Temperance Union, she taught several \u201cGood News\u201d Clubs under Child Evangelism and in May 1960 had a winning Quiz Team competing with a Colorado team in Memphis, Tenn. She was the organist for sixteen summers at the Odosagih Bible Conference at Machias, NY.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Tyrone Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Neal officiating. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery.<br \/>\nFriends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.<br \/>\nContributions in her memory may be given to the Willing Workers Sunday School Class Missionary Program or to the Northwood Baptist Chapel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gertrude Amanda Summers, 88, formerly of RD 3 Vail and a resident of Tyrone Colonial Courtyard for the past two years, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Tyrone Hospital.
