B-A Public Library to hold winter used book sale
\nThe B-A Public Library will hold a winter used book sale. Many novels, kid\u2019s books, cook books and paperbacks will be available. Monday, February 5, from noon to 8 p.m. will be a $2 a bag day to conclude the sale.<\/p>\n
Kids Bible basketball camp
\nHey Kids! Kids Bible basketball camp at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church is almost here.
\nThe kids Bible basketball camp is ready to take kids to the next level in their game on Saturday, February 3 and Saturday, February 10. From 1 to 3 p.m. each day, kids will experience a clinic, a message, music and games for kids in K through fifth grades. Parents are encouraged to stay around and see what surprises may unfold each day.
\nPastor Matthew Lake from the 2nd Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona, will be the featured speaker on February 3. Jim Kilmartin from Joshua House will be the featured speaker on February 10.
\nNo registration fee required. There will be a love offering basket for donations.

Saturday night light
\nBald Eagle United Methodist Church invites the community to \\”Saturday night Light\\” this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. Saturday Night Light is filled with contemporary Christian Music, laughter, conversation, and light refreshments. Live Music provided by our own \\”Praise Unplugged\\”. This service is normally held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays but we are putting in this Saturday\\’s service as an extra because last week had to be canceled due to our furnace situation. Come warm yourself up with God\\’s love. <\/p>\n
Faces and Places Ministries casting for spring production
\nFaces and Places Ministries recently announced the spring production will be \u201cDavid, A Man After God\\’s Own Heart\u201d.
\nIn May, Faces and Places Ministries will launch this sprawling epic of an ancient time summed up in one man\\’s life, King David.
\nFor interested individuals, Faces and Places Ministries will be casting all roles for this production on Sunday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the new building, Faces and Places Ministries Center for the Christian Arts, located at 954 Logan Ave.
\nBoth singing and non-singing roles are available.

Presbyterians To Focus On Faith For Today
\nAt 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2007, Interim Pastor Norman Huff will lead the 82 members of Tyrone Presbyterian Church in a worship service entitled \u201cFocus On Faith For Today\u201d.
\nPastor Huff will deliver a message about faith based on the revised lectionary scripture readings.
\nThe Westminster Choir will offer an anthem entitled \u201cMy Faith Has Found A Resting Place\u201d.
\nToday, as the Iraq War continues to darken the horizon, modern Tyrone Presbyterians invite believers to join their worship leader Reverend Huff and church members at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, February 4, as they give thanks for the faith of their spiritual ancestors, and then focus on strengthening their faith for today.<\/p>\n
Souperbowl Sunday
\nBald Eagle and Grazierville United Methodist Churches join other community churches in celebrating Souperbowl Sunday, this Sunday, February 4. Folks attending the service at Grazierville are invited to bring donations of canned soup and\/or dollar bills for the soup kettle. Folks attending services at Bald Eagle are invited to bring donations of non-perishable foods of their choice, and\/or dollar bills for the kettle. All donations will go to the Tyrone Food Pantry.
\nThinking about starting a business?
\nThe Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce and the Juniata College Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership present free entrepreneurial workshops. The workshops are open to any individual who is interested in starting a business.
\nThe workshops will be held at the Bull Pen Restaurant banquet room. On Tuesday, February 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. the topic will be entrepreneur and start-up. Then from 6 to 8 p.m. the topic will be entrepreneur and legal issues.

TYBA registration
\nTyrone Youth Baseball Association will hold registration for major and minor league baseball teams on Tuesday, February 6 and Wednesday, February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bull Pen. Any boy or girl born between May 1, 1994 and April 30, 2002 is eligible to play. Interested individuals must have an original copy of their birth certificate. Anyone who did not return last year\u2019s uniform are asked to bring it to registration.

Allegheny Chorale spring season
\nAllegheny Chorale is scheduled to started practice for its spring season in the TAHS Chorus Room. Any adults interested in joining, and also tenth through 12th grade students, are invited to attend the practices. The deadline for new members is February 6.<\/p>\n
WM Little League sign-ups
\nWarriors Mark Little League will be holding sign-ups on Wednesday, February 7 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Warriors Mark Fire Hall.
\nAny boy or girl born between May 1, 1994 and April 30, 2002 is eligible to play.
\nThere are registration fees. Players must reside in Warriors Mark Township, Franklin Township, Spruce Creek Township or Snyder Township (Blair County). Warriors Mark Little League is a part of the Tri-County Little League consisting of teams from Port Matilda, Huston Township, Halfmoon Township and Warriors Mark.
\nThe normal season of play lasts from the beginning of April through the end of June. Anyone with questions can contact Jim Dorminy, President at 632-7514.<\/p>\n
NARFE meeting
\nMembers of Chapter 328, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association met January 12 at noon at King\u2019s Restaurant, 3000 Sixth Avenue, for lunch and a business meeting.
\nIt was decided to once again have the annual August picnic at American Legion Park in Hollidaysburg and the Christmas party at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood.
\nThe next meeting will be at noon at King\u2019s on Friday, February 9. All active and retired Federal employees and spouses are welcome.

Collecting donations for CPHS
\nCub Scout Pack 320 will be collecting donations of pet food items, litter, and cleaning supplies (detergent, bleach, etc.), as a community service project to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society through Feb. 10. TACO Radio Auction
\nThe Tyrone Area Community Organization\u2019s Annual Radio Auction is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11. The radio auction will be aired live over WTRN 1340 AM. Saturday, February 10, the auction is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:30 a.m., after the morning news. Sunday, February 11, the auction is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
\nFor that weekend, The Daily Herald office will once again be transformed into the headquarters for the TACO Radio Auction, where the items and the phone lines will be located. Individuals can participate by listening to TACO members describe the items over the airwaves, and if anyone is interested in bidding on an item, they may simply call 684-4000; 684-4001 or 684-4603 with an offer.
\nItems can currently be viewed at The Daily Herald window in downtown Tyrone.

Chocolate Festival
\nThe Tyrone Church of the Brethren, on the corner of Adams and 18th street, is having a Chocolate Festival from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday February 11 to raise money for Disaster Relief ministries.
\nAdmission is free for those who want to purchase treats to eat in or take out, bid on the Silent Auction for chocolate gift baskets, or shop in the Sweetheart Sweet Shoppe to buy a gift for your sweetie.
\nSeveral of the churches bakers and confectioners will be competing in a Chocolate Tasting Competition. To be involved in the tasting and judging of entries a ticket must be purchased for a small fee.

Natural Biodiversity representative to speak to LJRA
\nScott Millberg, projects coordinator for the non-profit conservation group, \u201cNatural Biodiversity\u201d, will be presenting to the Little Juniata River Association during their monthly meeting on February 13 at the Tyrone Snyder Public Library in the Community Room at 7 p.m. The Little Juniata River Association is a local non-profit group whose mission is to monitor, preserve and improve the Little \u201cj\u201d as a cold-water resource. The public is welcome to attend.
\nAccording to Scott, \u201cNatural Biodiversity\u201d is focused on the control of herbaceous, invasive species, such as Japanese Knotweed, which is known to have established itself along the banks of the Little Juniata and elsewhere in the Juniata Watershed. \u201cNatural Biodiversity\u201d and Southern Alleghenies Conservancy have recently received federal funding from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service grant program. This project will access the affect of the invasive species presence on the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), Conservation Securities Program (CSP), and stream bank fencing projects. Eventually a planning committee will be formed to develop an invasive species management plan, pinpointing locations and identifying best control practices, beginning with the lands along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
