The club offers projects in a variety of subjects including pets, babysitting, small engines, dairy, sewing, art, cooking, horses and more. Individuals eight-years-old to 18-years-old are welcome to join the club.<br \/>\nThey are also looking for volunteers interested in teaching one or more of the projects. For more information, please contact Melissa Kohler at 684-1419.<\/p>\n<p>ProCare offering classes<br \/>\nProCare Rehabilitation at Tyrone Hospital is offering two classes, in association with Highmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, to help start your New Year off on a good foot!<br \/>\nDiscover Relaxation Within is a lifestyle improvement program designed to identify and reduce individual stressors through learned relaxation techniques. Four weeks in length, this program is both experiential and educational in nature. This course begins January 8 at 6 p.m. at Tyrone Hospital in the classroom. Date may change depending on response.<br \/>\nClear the Air is a one-session tobacco cessation education program to help prepare individuals to quit tobacco, when they are ready. Two hours in length, Clear the Air guides participants through the appropriate steps of tobacco cessation beginning with the identification of personal motivation to quit. Tools and resources are provided to help participants prepare, take action, and stay motivated to quit tobacco for good. Class is scheduled for January 9 at 5 p.m.<br \/>\nPlease contact Karen at 814-684-6309 for further details.<\/p>\n<p>Salvation Army hours<br \/>\nThe Salvation Army Service Center will reopen January 9 with their winter hours being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Luncheon<br \/>\nThe public is invited to \u201cThe Winner\u2019s Bouquet\u201d luncheon on Wednesday, January 10, at the Ramada Inn, Banquet Room C, at noon. The special feature will be \u201cCandy Bouquet\u201d by Jeannette Rutherford of Hollidaysburg. Special music will be presented by Pam Wertman of Tyrone. The featured speaker will be Jennifer Ebaugh of Saxonburg. She will be speaking on \u201cWinning the Race of Life\u201d.<br \/>\nFor information call 944-3779.<br \/>\nSponsored by Altoona Christian Women\u2019s Club, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.<\/p>\n<p>Blood pressure screenings<br \/>\nBlood Pressure Screenings will be held the fourth Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Tipton Post Office and from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bellwood Senior Center, One Main Street, Bellwood. Also, the third Thursday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Tyrone Senior Center.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Sportsmens Assoc. work day<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Sportsmens Association will be having an outside work day on Saturday, January 20 beginning at 8 a.m., weather permitting. Clearing brush from the range area will be the main focus. Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>20th Annual Respect Life March<br \/>\nJoin the 20th Annual Respect Life March on Sunday, January 21 beginning at noon.<br \/>\nThe march will begin with a prayer service in St. Matthew Church in Tyrone. Participants will then walk the 1.25 miles to Oak Grove Cemetery to the grave of Baby Agnes Doe, for another short prayer service. A hot luncheon will be served in the parish hall after the march.<br \/>\nIndividuals are encouraged to bring a sign; if you are unable to walk this distance feel free to join in by driving at the end of the procession.<br \/>\nThe march is sponsored by the St. Gregory Council No. 1218 Knights of Columbus. For further information, call Peter Kreckel at 684-2898 or email: pharmcanoe@aol.com.<\/p>\n<p>March for Life bus trip<br \/>\nMost Holy Trinity Catholic Church of  Huntingdon is sponsoring a bus to the 34th Annual March for Life in Washington DC on Monday, January 22. The bus will leave Peebles Plaza, Route 22, in Huntingdon at 7 a.m. Individuals are encouraged to bring a bag lunch for the trip to Washington. The bus will leave Washington about 4 p.m. with a stop for dinner on the return trip, arriving back in Huntingdon between 9 and 9:30 p.m. There is a cost, due when the passenger boards the bus. Reservations can be made up to the time of departure, on a first come, first serve basis. Those under 18-years-old must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, or to reserve seats, call Juanita Kissel at 643-5095.<\/p>\n<p>Allegheny Chorale spring season<br \/>\nAllegheny Chorale is scheduled to start practice for its spring season January 23 in the TAHS Chorus Room from 7 to 9 p.m. Any adults interested in joining, and also tenth through 12th grade students, are invited to attend the practices. The deadline for new members is February 6.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone History Museum closed for winter<br \/>\nThe Tyrone History Museum is closed for the winter. Walkers are invited to walk Monday<br \/>\nthrough Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no walking when school is not in session. Running is not permitted. Children must be supervised.
