The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society is again offering a great way to help homeless animals this holiday season without actually adopting them.
\nCPHS is sponsoring a special \u201cSponsor a Pet for the Holidays\u201d campaign involving direct donations for specific animals at the shelter.
\nFor $100 (or more), individuals, families, businesses, office workers or groups of friends can sponsor a CPHS \u201cresident\u201d animal throughout the holiday season. The money will go directly to feed and care for that particular animal.
\nIn return for the donation, CPHS will post a flier on each sponsored animal\u2019s cage that notes the sponsorship. The flier can be directly attributed to the sponsor or \u201cin memory\u201d or \u201cin honor\u201d of a person, or animal of their choice.
\nThe campaign kicked off just before Thanksgiving and runs through January.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a great way for people to help us get through this time of year and meet the high cost of utilities and gas for our vehicles,\u201d noted CPHS Director of Fundraising\/Public Relations, Dave Hopkins.
\nSponsorships are available for any of the animals currently housed at the shelter while they wait for new homes.
\nPeople interested in sponsoring can choose a particular animal if they like or allow the shelter to choose. The shelter staff will place the flier on his\/her cage. If the pet is adopted, the flier will move to another cage to denote the continuing sponsorship.
