Mrs. Sylvia M. Givler, 78, of Northwood, 301 Mathias St., Tyrone, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
\nShe was born May 20, 1928 in Northwood a daughter of Winfield Scott and Helen C. (Bratton) Umholtz.
\nShe was married January 19, 1946 in Tyrone to John K. Givler, Jr. who died January 19, 1993.
\nShe is survived by daughters Bonnie K. Picciano (Patrick) of Northwood; Connie L. Chronister (Jerry) of Louisville, Ky. and son John Scott Givler (Lisa) with the US Army in Afghanistan; seven grandchildren: Terry L. Albright, Dawn Albright, Jason D. Chronister, Wendy S. Teeters, John S. Givler, Jr., Buck Price and Stacey Valle; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: Robert L. Umholtz of Northwood, Dale M. Umholtz of Tyrone and Linda Leeper of Northwood and several nieces and nephews.
\nShe was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis, a brother Glenn and infant brothers Lee and James and granddaughter Sherry Lynn Albright.
\nShe was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she was active in the Willing Workers S.S. Class.
\nShe was a homemaker and an avid football fan of the Tyrone Eagles, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers.
\nFuneral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Barry Neal officiating.
\nInterment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
\nFriends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
