There is a donation can located at Uni-Mart in Warriors Mark. Interested individuals can also send donations to the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church at PO Box 134, Warriors Mark, Pa. 16877.<br \/>\nAlso, anyone wishing to help set up the luminaries may contact the church office at 632-6906.<\/p>\n<p>Yuletyme Christmas Parade and Celebration<br \/>\nEveryone is invited to participate in the Eighth Annual Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas Celebration sponsored by the Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas Committee and the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce. The Annual Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas Parade is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 1. A tree lighting is scheduled just before the parade at 6 p.m. The parade will commence at 6:15 p.m.<br \/>\nImmediately following the parade, join Santa for hot chocolate and cookies. The visit with Santa will be held at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory.<br \/>\nThe bad weather date is Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m.<br \/>\nThe Eighth Annual Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas Craft Show is scheduled for Saturday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.<br \/>\nVisitors will enjoy holiday shopping through the craft show and the shops in Tyrone. Fun-filled activities begin Thursday and Friday evening which lead up to Saturday\u2019s events, including: carriage rides, a tree decorating contest, children\u2019s crafts and activities, food vendors and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>TACO to collect canned goods during parade<br \/>\nTACO members will again be doing their annual food drive for the Salvation Army the day of the Christmas Parade. Members from TACO said it makes them feel good to be able to help those in need in the community. Salvation Army representatives said that the food TACO collects the day of the parade enables the Salvation Army to help more families in the area. TACO members said watch for the truck and give generously.<\/p>\n<p>Canned goods collected at parade<br \/>\nGirl Scout troop 1210 will be collecting canned goods along the parade route. The girls are working on their Silver Award and the Tyrone Food Bank is their community service. The truck will be decorated by the girls. Please bring canned goods and help the less fortunate that might not be able to buy food. Any local businesses that would like to donate food may do so and the troop will pick it up. The food bank is located at the Wesley United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p>Buffet dinner<br \/>\nThe Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will host a buffet dinner on Friday, December 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature Swiss steak, meat loaf, baked beans, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, gravy (plain and onion), tossed salad and cottage cheese with peaches. The Warriors Mark United Methodist Church is handicapped accessible. Anyone with questions may call the church office at 632-6906.<\/p>\n<p>Live Nativity canceled<br \/>\nThe live Nativity scheduled for Friday, December 1 at the Warriors Mark UM Church has been canceled.<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast With Santa<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Fourth Annual \u201cBreakfast\u201d with Santa at Tyrone Colonial Courtyard on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. Santa will have goodies for each child. Tickets can be purchased at the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office, 1004 Logan Ave., Tyrone, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about \u201cBreakfast With Santa\u201d contact the Chamber at 684-0736.<br \/>\nLiving history program<br \/>\nThe Colonel Crowther Foundation will present a living history program at Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 2, as part of Tyrone Yuletyme Christmas.  The program will be presented using two of the basement rooms of the church between noon and 5 p.m.  Entry will be through the door on the 12th Street side of the church.<br \/>\nChristmas in 1862 as might have been experienced by the James and Sarah Crowther family will be the focus of the program. Colonel Crowther was not home for that Christmas. He was on duty at Falmouth, Virginia. He did write to his wife telling her how Christmas was celebrated in camp.<br \/>\nA civilian Christmas is the first part of the program. Living historians will present various aspects of Christmas as experienced by civilian members of the Tyrone community in 1862. A tabletop Christmas tree decorated with trimmings used at the time, original Christmas issues of Harper\u2019s Weekly newspaper, and other interesting items will be on display.<br \/>\nThe second part of the program presents Christmas in the Union Army camp at Falmouth, Virginia. Visitors will be able to sample the Christmas meal Colonel Crowther described to his wife. Living historians will read passages from actual letters written by soldiers describing their Christmas experience.<br \/>\nAttendance is free to the general public. A donation to The Colonel Crowther Foundation will be appreciated. <\/p>\n<p>High Tea at Trinity Episcopal Church<br \/>\nPurple Iris, one of the last of artist Andy Moore\u2019s water colors, will be featured at the third annual High Tea at the Trinity Episcopal Church.<br \/>\nThe gorgeous painting, which is 15 inches by 25 inches, will be offered in a raffle. The painting was previously on display at the Tyrone Hospital and was left to the church by Andy to use as a fundraiser. Andy, who died in late May, was a well-known artist previously living in Birmingham. This is the last of Andy\u2019s works to be offered to the public.<br \/>\nThe popular high tea will take place on December 2 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church on Washington Avenue. Tickets for this event are sold out, but individuals are still encouraged to purchase chances for the original painting by Andy Moore.<br \/>\nTickets for chances may be obtained from any church member or by calling Honey Wilson at 684-2055. <\/p>\n<p>Christmas Program<br \/>\nKip Woodring and students Christmas program will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2 in the ballroom of the Tyrone Moose. Donations will be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Elks No. 212 Memorial Service<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Elks No. 212 has scheduled a memorial service for Sunday, December 3 at 2 p.m. to be held at the Elks Lodge. The service is for those members who have passed away during the year. Reverend Norman Huff will be the special guest speaker. The public is invited to attend. <\/p>\n<p>Ham or turkey dinner<br \/>\nPort Matilda Fire Co. will hold a dinner on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.<br \/>\nThere will be a choice of ham or turkey with vegetables, dessert and a drink. Takeouts available. Open to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Allegheny Chorale concerts<br \/>\nThe Allegheny Chorale has announced its holiday concerts, titled \u201cChristmastime is here\u201d, for December 5 at 7 p.m. at Tipton Baptist Church and December 12 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Tyrone. All are welcome to attend.<br \/>\nBellwood Quilting Bees<br \/>\nThe Bellwood Quilting Bees will host a Holiday Open House on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bellwood-Antis Library on Main Street.<br \/>\nRefreshments will be available and quilted items by the members will be displayed. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact, Mary Lou at 742-9827<\/p>\n<p>Civil War reenactment group meeting<br \/>\nThe December meeting of the 148th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company C, Civil War Reenactment Group will be held on December 7, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hoss\u2019s Steak and Seafood Restaurant, State College.<br \/>\nThe company will have election of officers for the 2007 year and discuss their reenactment agenda for 2007.<br \/>\nDuring the Civil War, seven of the 10 companies of the 148th PA Regiment were recruited from Centre County and became known as \u201cThe Centre County Regiment\u201d. The 148th PA Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company C, Reenactment Group has over 80 active members from Centre, Clearfield, Mifflin, Juniata, Huntingdon, Blair and Carbon Counties. The Regiment is actively recruiting new members.
