The Daily Herald Holiday Recipe Contest was deemed a success as approximately 35 recipes were submitted from area residents.
\nThe first place winner is Wendy M. Gherrity who submitted the recipe of Pumpkin Pie Crunch.
\nShe will receive: turkey and pie from Mac\u2019s Market, $20 gift certificate from Tyrone BiLo, case of water from Logan Beverage, holiday tablecloth from G & P Dollar Stretchers, holiday dinner dishes from Dollar General of Bellwood, flatware from Family Dollar, holiday centerpiece from Engelman\u2019s Greenhouse and 13-week subscription from The Daily Herald.
\nThe second place winner is Sydney Dixon who submitted the recipe of Pumpkin Trifle.
\nSecond prize includes: turkey from Martin\u2019s Food Market from Bellmeade, $25 gift certificate to Bellwood Hometown Market, holiday tablecloth from G & P Dollar Stretchers, holiday centerpiece from Alice\u2019s Garden Florist and Gift Shop and $30 rental card from SilverScreen Video.
\nA guest chef, Scott Collinash of Tyrone, visited the Herald office to take time to look over the recipes and decide upon the winners.
\nThe names of the recipe submissions were covered during the voting process to assure anonymity.
\nThe first and second place recipes will be listed first in the Santa Gift Guide, followed by all of the recipes that were submitted. The Santa Gift Guide is scheduled to be published November 22.
\nThe winners of last year\u2019s contest were Donna Glunt who submitted the recipe of Boston Brown Bread and P. Jane Fink who submitted the recipe of Angel Cookies.
