Thanksgiving is a time to stop and reflect on all the things we are thankful for. Some have more to be thankful for than others. But this Thanksgiving, several area volunteers will share their time on Thanksgiving Day to provide homemade meals for others.
\nOnce again, DJ\u2019s Cafe in Tyrone will be offering a free Thanksgiving meals to area residents on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23.
\nOver the past several years, this tradition has grown and is now an annual event for the staff and volunteers at DJ\u2019s.
\nWhen they first began, volunteers started out preparing 100 meals. Last year, that number grew to over 350 meals prepared for individuals within the community.
\nAll the meals are cooked on-site and are delivered, free of charge, to individuals and families. The volunteers provide not only a hot meal, but also companionship to those who may otherwise not have the opportunity to share this thankful day with others.
\nFor those who prefer, families are also invited to join together at DJ\u2019s where they can sit down and enjoy the home cooked meal with others, served by the staff.
\nThis year\u2019s Thanksgiving meal includes: roasted turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied yams, corn, cranberry sauce, a roll and butter, dessert and milk.
