The new Central Pennsylvania Humane Society 2007 \u201cPicture Perfect Pet\u201d calendar is currently available at The Daily Herald office located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Tyrone.
\nThe full color, glossy print calendars feature over 70 local pets who competed for the honor of being pictured as a month, on a special \u201chonorable mention\u201d page or on the front\/back cover.
\nThe calendars would make a perfect holiday gift for your co-workers, family members and friends.
\n\u201cThis is our second year of producing the calendar and we think we\u2019ve \u2018kicked it up a notch\u2019,\u201d said Dave Hopkins, CPHS Director of Fundraising\/Public Relations.
\n Pet owners this year raised over $20,000 in the contest, setting a new all-time record by more than $3,000 for an individual fundraising event to benefit the shelter\u2019s homeless animals.
\nThe calendars sell for $7 each and are $5 for CPHS card-carrying members.
\nBesides The Daily Herald office, the CPHS shelter and thrift shop, other locations to purchase calendars include: Chris\u2019 Hallmark, Brew Zoo, Thompson Pharmacy, V.I.P. Pets and Aquarium, Tyrone Veterinary Associates, New Look Uniform, Ambience Photography, Moments Photography, Ray Kauffman Photography, Baronner\u2019s Farm Market, Quality Awards, A-1 Auto Glass; Beaks, Paws and Claws; Veterinary Hospital of Altoona and Rustic Country Furniture.
\n\u201cWe have a limited quantity this year and we hope folks will buy them soon so they\u2019re not disappointed,\u201d said Hopkins.
\n\u201cWe want to thank everyone who took part in this project,\u201d said Hopkins, \u201call the pet owners, our advertisers, our printer (Press Box) and especially our photographers who did such an incredible job.\u201d
\nAlso, CPHS has an on-going wish list for those individuals who would like to donate an item to the shelter, which can include: kitty litter, puppy and kitten food, leashes and collars, toys and treats for the animals, bleach and laundry detergent, medium-sized gloves for cleaning, old blankets and towels, copy paper, postage stamps, hand sanitizer and paper towels.
