Mrs. Bernita Helen Barr, 83, of 425 North Duke Street, Lancaster died Friday, August 3 at Golden Years Nursing Center.
\nBorn in East Prairie, MO on February 7, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Albert F. and Nora (Whitker) Hasty. She was the widow of Thomas D. Sawyer.
\nBernita ran a child care center in her home for many years. Prior to that, she worked at the former Wither Brothers Silk Mill.
\nShe is survived by a daughter Alvesta Boytim, of Tyrone, sons Thomas D. Sawyer of Lancaster, James L. Sawyer of Lancaster, Richard Beamsderfer of Lancaster, a sister, Lucille Pregale of Nashville, TN, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
\nShe was preceded in death by a son Robert E. Sawyer.
\nServices are private at the convenience of the family.
