The annual giving campaign for United Way Huntingdon County is well under way, according to Mike Fleck and Bob McMinn, co-chairs of the Annual Giving Campaign. Fleck announced Oct. 18 to a group of volunteers that United Way has already reached 25 percent of the $405,000 goal with commitments of over $100,000 to date.
\nThe volunteers, members of the United Way Bank and Commerce Sector, met at Kish Bank, Huntingdon, to review campaign strategies and goals under the direction of Sandy Brumbaugh, sales administration manager, Bonney Forge, and chair of this committee.
\n\u201cMy team has a $70,000 contribution goal from area businesses, many of whom offer payroll deductions to employees. The team is experienced and excited to be involved in United Way this year,\u201d said Brumbaugh.
\nFleck was enthusiastic at the meeting commenting, \u201cOur volunteers are terrific and dedicated. We are all counting on the generosity of area businesses and the community for continued support that benefits 17 area nonprofit agencies.\u201d
\nThe Huntingdon County United Way provides financial support to 17 Huntingdon County nonprofit agencies and assisted over 32,000 county residents in 2005. The United Way Campaign consolidates and streamlines charitable giving, providing predictable monthly income to these agencies to help with budgeting and cash flow.
