Guest speaker
\nThere will be a guest speaker on Tuesday, September 26 at 7 p.m. in the Wesley Long Community Room of the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library.
\nThe speaker is Bob Broadwater who will discuss one of his recent books, \u201cFour Civil War Diaries by Pennsylvania Soldiers\u201d.
\nBroadwater has written 12 books and more than 100 magazine articles dealing with the Civil War and the Revolution. He lives in Bellwood.<\/p>\n

\nThe September meeting of the Descendants of Civil War Veterans will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m. at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.
\nThe presenter will be Mr. Bob Broadwater who will speak on the history of the 62nd Regiment, Company M of the Pennsylvania Volunteers and what has become of their flag. The public is invited to attend.<\/p>\n

\nThe Tyrone High School class of 1952 will hold a luncheon at Joe\u2019s Place, Vail, on Thursday, September 28 at noon. All classmates and guests are welcome.<\/p>\n
Sprouting Readers program
\nThe Sprouting Readers program will start Thursday, September 28 at 6:30 p.m. This will continue each Thursday evening through November 2.
\nThis program is a non-traditional story time for children of working caregivers unable to attend regularly scheduled storytimes at the library.
\nThere is no registration, just bring your children.
\nFarm\/City Day
\nRotary Club of Tyrone\u2019s 23rd annual Farm\/City Day will be held Saturday, September 30 at Reservoir Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
\nReservations for booths are now being accepted, including food, crafts, display or promotional. Call Bud Boom at 931-9152 for more information. There will be a live petting zoo, entertainment, food, hay wagon rides and fun. Tickets for the chicken barbecue can be purchased in advance from any Rotarian, Kelly Wike\u2019s State Farm office or the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce office.<\/p>\n
TACO youth football competition
\nTACO will be holding a youth football competition on Sunday, October 1 at Ferner Field. Sign up will be at 1 p.m. and the competition will start at 2 p.m. The age groups for boys and girls are five to six; seven to eight; nine to 10 and 11 to 12. Please wear sneakers only, no cleats. Rain date will be October 8.<\/p>\n
B.E. Sportsmen Turkey Shoots
\nThe turkey shoots at the Bald Eagle Sportsmen will be starting on Wednesday, October 4. Starting time will be at 7:30 p.m. Please note the shoots are now on Wednesday nights. The Sportsmen is located on Rt. 350 about one mile from the intersection at Snappy\u2019s. Look for the Sportsmen sign on the right.

Buffet dinner
\nThe Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will host a buffet dinner on Friday, October 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature roast pork, chicken casserole supreme, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, butter peas, tossed salad, applesauce, roll and ice cream with toppings. Children ages four-years-old and under eat for free.

Chicago Rivet retirees
\nThe Chicago Rivet retirees will hold their monthly breakfast at Joe\u2019s Place at 8:30 a.m.
\nMeetings are scheduled for the rest of the year, including October 12, November 9 and December 14.
\nOctoberfest
\nOctoberfest will be held at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Artisans, crafters and vendors are wanted to sell their artwork, crafts, handwork, etc. Registration deadline for table space is October 13. Call 632-6906.<\/p>\n
TACO Halloween parade
\nTACO Halloween parade will be held Tuesday, October 17 at 6 p.m. Registration for the costume judging will start at 4:30 p.m. at the Tyrone highway Dept. Parade line up will begin at 5 p.m. in front of the Highway Dept.
\nIf interested in taking part in the parade, call Tim Kirkpatrick at 684-0704. The rain date will be October 24.<\/p>\n
Tyrone Business and Career Expo
\nThe Tyrone Business and Career Expo, BAH and New Middle School tour, sponsored by the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce and the Tyrone Area High School will be held Thursday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tyrone Area High School cafeteria. Lunch will be available. Any student and\/or the public may attend.

Light the Night
\nMom and dad, kids of all ages come to \u201cLight the Night\u201d, October 26, from 6-8 p.m. \u201cLight the Night\u201d is a safe and supervised Halloween night environment. Games, prizes, puppets, face painting, candy, hotdogs, hot popcorn and beverages, all will be provided free. \u201cLight the Night\u201d will be in the parking lot behind Burger King, and is sponsored by First Assembly of God Church.<\/p>\n

Bible study class
\nThe Tyrone Church of the Brethren has added a Saturday morning Bible study to its educational opportunities. The class is held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. <\/p>\n
Preschool openings
\nA Child\u2019s Garden Preschool, located at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren, has a few openings for children ages three to five-years-old, for the 2006-07 school year.

Tyrone Salvation Army now open
\nThe Tyrone Salvation Army is now open at its new location at 908 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone. It\u2019s open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Tyrone Salvation Army always accepts clothing and food items. It also accepts appliances, bedding, etc. It is currently in need of children\u2019s clothing.
