The Blair County DA\u2019s office and the county\u2019s Drug Task Force announced today the convictions and sentencing of four drug dealers with connections to New York state.
\nAccording to a press release from the Blair County\u2019s District Attorney\u2019s office, the defendants in the case plead guilty yesterday in Blair County Court where they were set to appear for jury selection.
\nThe case had Tyrone connections, according to the release. Several agencies including Tyrone Police, the Bellwood Police department, the Attorney General\u2019s office and other police departments executed a search warrant at an apartment on Washington Avenue in Tyrone on Sept. 29 and 30 in Tyrone. Within hours, the investigation culminated in a search of a trailer on old Route 220 in Greenfield Township.
\nAssistant DA Terry Tomassetti explained the searches resulted in charges against several people and the recovery of a large amount of heroin and cocaine with a street value of $100,000.
\nTomassetti also said the sentences of the four defendants were significant because they had no prior criminal records. He also noted the significance of where the activity took place.
\n\u201cThese sentences send a message to the public in Blair County that the fight against drugs isn\u2019t limited to the city of Altoona; it will reach to the outskirts of Blair County to the north and the south,\u201d said Tomassetti. \u201cEven more importantly, it sends a message to the drug dealers that law enforcement will find you- no place is safe.\u201d
\nThe DA\u2019s office released the following information on the defendants and their sentences:
\n\u2022 Andy Brown of Middletown, NY, received a sentence of five to 10 years and a fine of $15,000 on charges of possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit delivery of heroin;
\n\u2022 Joshua Thompson, formerly of Monticello, NY, received a sentence of five to 10 years and a fine of $15,000 on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin;
\n\u2022 Nathan McDonald of Brooklyn, NY, received a sentence of four and a half to nine years for charges of possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver heroin and
\n\u2022 Andrew Brown (brother of Andy Brown) received two to four years for a charge of conspiracy to commit delivery of heroin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
