The concert is free and open to all residents of the community and will be followed by a reception. There will be a voluntary offering during the program, of which 100 percent of the proceeds will directly benefit the Tyrone DrugSafetyNet Program, which provides drug education, awareness and prevention materials to area youth and families.<br \/>\nPlease mark your calendars to attend, and help to make a difference in the community. Practice times on Sunday are: U6 1:30-2:30 p.m.; U8 2:45-3:45 p.m.; U10 4-5 p.m. and U12-14 5:30-6:45 p.m.<br \/>\nPlayers are reminded to bring shin guards and a water bottle. Call Steve Lucas at 684-1218 with any questions. <\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Presbyterian service<br \/>\nAt the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday, August 27, Tyrone Presbyterian Church will come alive with the sound of music as Alice, Anita and Ferroll Mulhollan share some gospel favorites as part of a worship service that accents the blessing of walking with God.<br \/>\nAs long-time residents of California Hollow in Bald Eagle, the Mulhollan family singers have inspired audiences throughout Central Pennsylvania with their harmonious praise music over many years.<br \/>\nPastor Bob Dunkelberger encourages citizens to join Tyrone Presbyterians for 10:30 a.m. worship this Sunday, August 27. At that service, they can allow the music and the message to invigorate their journey through life, as the people in the pew depart to serve by singing the comforting words of this 1886 Dwight Moody Evangelistic hymn, \u201cWhen we walk with the Lord, in the light of His word \/ What a glory He sheds on our way \/ While we do His good will, He abides with us still \/ And with all who will trust and obey.\u201d<br \/>\nMilitary History Speakers Series<br \/>\nThere is a Military History Speaker Series event scheduled for Monday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg. The topic will be \u201cWilder\\&#8217;s Brigade at Chickamauga\u201d.  Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Haribson, United States Army, will discuss a historical analysis of Colonel John T. Wilder\\&#8217;s infantry brigade in the Tullahoma and Chickamauga campaigns of the American Civil War in 1863. The public is invited to attend. Payment can be made by mail or at the Legion.<br \/>\nContact Don Boytim at 686-0339 with questions.<\/p>\n<p>Track\/CC Booster club meeting<br \/>\nThe Tyrone track and cross country booster club will hold a meeting on Thursday, August 31 at 6:30 p.m. in room 110 at the high school.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua House yard sale<br \/>\nThere is a scheduled yard sale at Joshua House on September 1 and 2 from  9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Joshua House will be open Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, August 31 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. to collect donations for the yard sale. Assoc. for the Blind health calendar<br \/>\nThe September health calendar has been announced for the Blair County Association for the Blind, and is as follows: September 5, \u201cLeader and Therapy Dogs\u201d at the Tyrone Senior Center at 11 a.m., and September 25, \u201cLeader and Therapy Dogs\u201d at the Bellwood Senior Center at 10:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>NARFE<br \/>\nMembers of Chapter 328, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association held its annual picnic at noon August 11 at American Legion Park, Hollidaysburg.<br \/>\nA picnic lunch was served by Rick Conway from the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center. Members played bingo after the lunch.<br \/>\nThe chapters next meeting will be at noon on September 8 at King\u2019s Restaurant, 3000 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. All active and retired Federal employees and spouses are welcome.<br \/>\nTyrone Community Labor Day picnic<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Community Labor Day picnic will be held Monday, September 4 at Reservoir Park, beginning at 9 a.m.<br \/>\nAny non-profit organization may have a food booth to sign up. Adult prize bingo will be ran by the Tyrone Elks. Youth land and water games with cash prizes are sponsored by local businesses. Entertainment will be provided by Kip Woodring. There will also be a 50\/50 raffle. Rotary chicken barbecue tickets and women\u2019s Club rib dinner tickets are available in advance from members and the chamber office. Call 684-0736 for tickets, to donate prizes, money or to sign up a group.<\/p>\n<p>Soccer booster meeting<br \/>\nThere will be a TAHS Boys Soccer Booster meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Tyrone High School. Topics to be discussed include officers, by-laws, and fundraisers. <\/p>\n<p>Buffet dinner<br \/>\nThe Warriors Mark United Methodist Church will host a buffet dinner on Friday, September 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature turkey, beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn, Waldorf salad, cranberry sauce and roll. The dinner is free for children age four and under. The WMUMC is handicapped accessible. Anyone with questions can contact the church office at 632-6906.<\/p>\n<p>Evangelistic crusade<br \/>\nEvangelistic crusade at God\u2019s Missionary Church, Route 22, Alexandria will feature the Dan Durkee family from Penns Creek. The event will be held September 8-10.
