With students and parents in our area preparing for school to start tomorrow, there have been several questions raised about this year\u2019s bell schedule at Tyrone.
\nInformation was mailed out earlier this year, but with school right around the corner, district officials want to remind parents and students of the changes this year.
\nScheduling at the elementary, middle and high school has been rearranged, and while not drastic, it does add an additional 15 minutes onto the instructional day and incorporate clubs and organizations into the official school day.
\nAt the high school, the first bell will sound at 8:02 a.m., at which time students will be required to report to first period. This is one of the major changes at the high school. The 50 minute combined homeroom and first period, from 8:10 to 9 a.m., will save time as students will immediately being first period following any important \u201chomeroom\u201d issues.
\nSecond period will be held from 9:03 to 9:49 a.m. and third period from 9:52 to 10:38 a.m.
\nThere will be three lunch schedules at the school this year with students eating \u201cA Lunch\u201d from 10:41 to 11:11 a.m. followed by period 4 from 11:14 a.m. to noon and period 5 from 12:03 to 12:49 p.m. Those eating \u201cB Lunch\u201d will go to fourth period from 10:41 to 11:27 a.m., followed by lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon and fifth period from 12:03 to 12:49 p.m. Finally, those eating \u201cC Lunch\u201d will attend fourth period from 10:41 to 11:27 a.m., fifth period from 11:30 a.m. to 12:16 p.m. and eat lunch from 12:19 to 12:49 p.m.
\nEveryone will attend sixth period from 12:52 to 1:38 p.m. and seventh period from 1:41 to 2:27 p.m.
\nThe other major change at the high school level this year is the addition of a 35 minute advisory period at the end of the day, from 2:30 to 3:05 p.m.
\nThis period will be used for students involved in school organizations and clubs.
\nThe bus bell will be at 3:05 p.m. with all other bells at 3:10 p.m.
\nWith fifth through eighth grade now at the new middle school, there will also be some changes with this year\u2019s middle school schedule.
\nThe middle school warning bell will sound at 8:05 a.m. with students reporting to homeroom and first period from 8:10 to 9 a.m.
\nThe middle school will follow a similar schedule as the high school, with homeroom\/first period, second, third and seventh periods all the same. Times will differ when it comes to the cafeteria schedules. Each grade will eat separately, at a designated time. Fourth, fifth and sixth period will then revolve around the lunch schedule.
\nFifth grade will eat during \u201cA Lunch\u201d from 10:41 to 11:11 a.m. Seventh grade will eat \u201cB Lunch\u201d from 11:30 a.m. to noon and eighth grade will eat \u201cC Lunch\u201d from 12:19 to 12:49 p.m. Sixth grade students will be divided with the black team eating \u201cA Lunch\u201d and the orange team eating \u201cB Lunch\u201d.
\nThe middle school will also have two separate dismissal times. Fifth and sixth graders will attend eighth period beginning at 2:30 p.m. with dismissal at 2:55 p.m.
\nSeventh and eighth graders will remain in eighth period until 3 p.m. when bus students will be dismissed and finally, all others at 3:05 p.m.
\nAt the elementary school, students are required to be present before the tardy bell at 8:10 a.m. Breakfast in the cafeteria will be served each morning from 7:45 to 8 a.m. and Grab-n-Go breakfast will be available from 8 to 8:10 a.m.
\nStudents will eat lunch at a designated time between 10:55 a.m. and 1:05 p.m.
\nThe dismissal bell will ring at 3 p.m. and students will be dismissed from 3 to 3:25 p.m.
\nK-4 a.m. session dismissal will be at 11:30 a.m. and p.m. arrived is scheduled for noon.
\nParents transporting their children to school are reminded that they should not arrive prior to 7:50 a.m.
