Friday night\u2019s gathering will be at Burgi\u2019s Roundhouse in Altoona and Saturday\u2019s buffet dinner and festivities will be held at the Sinking Valley Fairgrounds. If you have any questions about either event, call Darlene at 684-4208 for reservations.<\/p>\n<p>Tyrone Soccer fall season<br \/>\nTyrone Soccer\\&#8217;s Fall season begins Sunday, August 27 at the PPG fields in Tipton. Practice times on Sunday are: U6 1:30-2:30 p.m.; U8 2:45-3:45 p.m.; U10 4-5 p.m. and U12-14 5:30-6:45 p.m.<br \/>\nPlayers are reminded to bring shin guards and a water bottle. Call Steve Lucas at 684-1218 with any questions. <\/p>\n<p>Military History Speakers Series<br \/>\nThere is a Military History Speaker Series event scheduled for Monday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, Business Route 322, Boalsburg. The topic will be \u201cWilder\\&#8217;s Brigade at Chickamauga\u201d.  Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Haribson, United States Army, will discuss a historical analysis of Colonel John T. Wilder\\&#8217;s infantry brigade in the Tullahoma and Chickamauga campaigns of the American Civil War in 1863. The public is invited to attend. Visit this inaugural Living History Timeline of uniforms and equipment from the Colonial Period through 21st century. Call the church office at 632-6906 to guarantee a spot.<\/p>\n<p>TCP announces audition dates for A Christmas<br \/>\nCaroled<br \/>\nThe Tyrone Community Players will be the temporary inhabitants of the historic Mishler Theater for a creative, musical retelling of the classic Dickens\u2019 ghost story.<br \/>\nWith an original adaptation and score by Tyrone resident Will A. Jones, The TCP presented the premier of this seasonal spectacular in 1999.<br \/>\nAuditions for this wonderful holiday musical will be held in The Building, home of the TCP, located at 1019 Logan Ave., Tyrone on Sunday and Monday, September 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. Please be prepared with a vocal audition. An accompanist  and CD player will be available for your use. If you do not have a prepared piece of music, a song from the show will be taught for your audition.<br \/>\nPerformance dates for A Christmas Caroled, under the direction of Cindy Bennett and Karen Mayhew, are November 24-26 in the beautiful Mishler Theater in Altoona.<br \/>\nIf you have any further questions or would like to peruse a script, phone Nancy Sloss, stage manager, at 684-5333 or the ArtsLine at 684-ART2. Four-person scramble with a noon shotgun start. There will be a beverage and snack cart all day. There will be T-shirts, prizes, contests and more. Lunch will be available. The class is held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Currently, the class is learning from the Gospel of John.<\/p>\n<p>Preschool openings<br \/>\nA Child\u2019s Garden Preschool, located at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren, has a few openings for children ages three to five-years-old, for the 2006-07 school year.<br \/>\nThere is available extended hours before and after preschool. It\u2019s open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Tyrone Salvation Army always accepts clothing and food items. It also accepts appliances, bedding, etc. It is currently in need of children\u2019s clothing.<br \/>\nMonetary contributions can be mailed to: Salvation Army Service Center, P.O. The phone number is 684-1664.<\/p>\n<p>Home Nursing Agency holds grief support group<br \/>\nHome Nursing Agency is holding a grief support group designed for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Join the Agency\u2019s grief counselors as they discuss and share with others who are experiencing similar situations.<br \/>\nThe group will meet the first Sunday of the month from 4 \u2013 5 p.m. through December 3. The meetings will be held in Altoona at Home Nursing Agency\u2019s office located at 215 Lakemont Blvd., by the Casino. Parking is available in \u2018Lot D\u2019. The preschool provides a loving, creative learning environment for a child\u2019s first preschool experience.<br \/>\nPrograms are offered for three, four and five-year-olds, which runs September through May. Interested individuals are invited to come for a meal and to socialize. Those attending would be responsible for their dinner, drinks or desserts.<br \/>\nMeetings are held at King\u2019s Restaurant, 6th Avenue and 31st Street.<\/p>\n<p>Breaking Bread Ministry<br \/>\nThe Church of the Good Shepherd wants those within the community and surrounding areas to know that Breaking Bread Ministry is on-going, not just during the Lenten season. One has only to inquire at the church or call 684-1955 between 9 a.m. and noon during the week to confirm Breaking Bread Ministry is open to all and eager to support those who request this service. The Church of the Good Shepherd has selected this ministry as a way to provide assistance, and is finding that Breaking Bread Ministry is becoming of growing interest throughout the area.<\/p>\n<p>Presbyterian preschool<br \/>\nIndividuals are invited to register their children now at the Presbyterian Preschool on Logan Avenue and 13th Street.<br \/>\nPresbyterian preschool has provided classes for the three and four-year-old children of the community since 1969.
