Snyder supervisors continued discussion Monday evening about jurisdiction questions for Hospital Road and Clay Avenue near the Tyrone Area School District buildings.
\nPolice coverage is being sought specifically during the time of student arrival in the morning and dismissal in the afternoon. The area in question is not on school property but in Snyder Township. The proposed area of coverage does not go into Tyrone Borough borders.
\nThe school district is developing a plan to employ an officer to police certain geographic areas that will be determined as meetings between the district and township continue.
\nThe problems to be addressed with the police patrols include students smoking, littering or loitering in these areas.
\nThe township\u2019s solicitor, Allen Gibboney, will continue background work needed for a potential agreement between the township and the Tyrone Area School District. Supervisors indicated on Monday evening that they wanted to have the agreement in place by the first day of school.
\nAlso at the meeting, supervisors approved approximately $11,100 as the first installment of the budgeted $35,000 donation to the Bald Eagle Fire Company for 2006.
\nThe fire company is purchasing a new fire truck, ordered from the Crimson Fire Equipment Company, which is being built according to the fire company\u2019s specifications.
\nFire Chief, Scott Illig said in a previous Daily Herald article that the $416,000 addition to the Bald Eagle Fire Company\u2019s fleet is a worthy investment for the future as the area continues to grow.
\nHe also said in the article that the money the township budgets for the fire company is used to maintain the building and pay the bills. However, the fire company\u2019s various fundraisers such as gun shows, dinners and flower sales go into the truck fund.
\nAmong other issues, supervisors:
\n\u2022 approved purchasing a fireproof safe for the computer software and disc back-ups which, according to the township agenda, need to be kept in a climate-controlled environment;
