{"id":41061,"date":"2006-06-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-06-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/v3\/?p="},"modified":"2006-06-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2006-06-17T00:00:00","slug":"CPHS-to-benefit-from-motorcycle-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tyronepa.com\/?p=41061","title":{"rendered":"CPHS to benefit from motorcycle run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Motorcycle enthusiasts throughout central Pennsylvania can look forward to some major changes in the 2006 \u201cBikers for Barkers\u201d dice run to benefit homeless animals at the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.<br \/>\nThe traditional July 4 weekend event will be held on Saturday, July 1 this year with a new twist. The run will begin and end at Burgi\u2019s Roundhouse (just across the highway from the CPHS shelter off Interstate-99 in Altoona).<br \/>\nIn addition to the 100-mile ride throughout the region, participants will be treated to a very special spaghetti dinner as prepared and served by Burgi\u2019s, music from a top area classic rock band, and new this year, special biker games.<br \/>\nThose who take part will get a \u201climited edition\u201d Bikers for Barkers T-shirt, and be eligible for cash prizes and be invited to bid on \u201ctop-end\u201d donated items such as special overnight hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, motorcycle related items and a weekend stay (golf or skiing included) at Blue Knob All Season Resort.<br \/>\nRegistration for the ride is $20 per rider. CPHS officials suggest riders register early to expedite check-in procedures on the day of the event. Those who pre-register before the event will greatly speed-up the sign-up procedure on ride day.<br \/>\nAs a main part of the \u201cdice run\u201d riders will roll dice at the beginning, middle and end of the run and have their scores recorded. Cash prizes ($100 for high roll, $50 for low roll) will be awarded to the high and low rollers.<br \/>\nSecure parking for riders will be provided at all locations. Check-in registration at Burgi\u2019s runs from 10 a.m. until noon. The ride begins at noon.<br \/>\nThe ride will be held rain or shine.<br \/>\nLast year\u2019s event raised nearly $10,000 for CPHS and drew over 340 riders.
