First Commonwealth of Bellwood gained a measure of revenge for a season-opening loss to Tyrone in VFW Area 4 13-14-year old baseball action on Memorial Day, at Bellwood. First Commonwealth evened the season series with a hard-fought 16-12 win.
\n First Commonwealth opened up with a bang, scoring five runs in the first and four more an inning later in the second.
\nTyrone started to get back in the game with a pair of tallies in the second, three in the third and two in the top of the fourth to slice the deficit to 9-7, only to have First Commonwealth score four times in the bottom of the fourth to run the lead back out to 13-7.
\nIn a game where offense was continual for both clubs, Tyrone would score five times over the final three at-bats, but First Commonwealth was able to counter with three more scores in the fifth to edge Tyrone 16-12. The game was hard fought on both sides, with Tyrone collecting 14 hits, and First Commonwealth belting out 13.
\nEric Loose slammed three doubles and a single for Tyrone, and Jon Shaffer was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, with a single, double and home run. Mike Moore and Josh Graham each added a triple for Tyrone, and Donnie Hunter had a double.
\nNate Gray had four hits for First Commonwealth, including a home run and scored four times, Ian Pankake homered, and Cameron Irvin has a double.
\nJake Manning picked up the win for First Commonwealth, while Randy Hoover took the loss for Tyrone.
