A sportsmen\u2019s dinner will be held at Olivet Baptist Church in Bellwood on Saturday, March 18 at 6 p.m.
\nTickets are currently available and are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. Interested individuals should call 742-8581 as soon as possible and ask for Rick. Tickets will also be available at the door.
\nThis is the fourth year for this event, which provides area residents with an opportunity to try different types of wild game.
\nThe dinner will include several varieties of meat including striper, venison, pheasant, rabbit, duck and more. The ladies of the church will also provide homemade apple pie and ice cream for dessert.
\nAlso, there will be door prizes given away during the event.
\nThis year\u2019s guest speaker will be Brock Ray, who is the host of \u201cBetter Built\u2019s World of Outdoors\u201d, which currently airs nationally on The Mens Channel and Inside The Outdoors TV. He will speak about techniques of hunting white-tailed deer.
\nInformation provided states, \u201cWhile Ray is the engine of the EMGruppe where he is President, Brock is no desk fixture. At age 28, he decided to couple his knowledge of mundane business with his true love \u2013 the outdoors.
\n\u201cSince, he formed Thicket Publishing, which he commanded from his basement. Ray worked his way up in the business world producing five magazines devoted to hunting. His enterprising ventures then led him into Radio and TV.
\n\u201cRay\u2019s business enabled him to become a hunting aficionado and, most importantly, a white-tailed deer connoisseur hunting big game worldwide. But that was not enough.
\n\u201cRay sold his publishing company, TP Productions, and presently holds an all encompassing outdoor marketing and production firm, The EMGruppe.
\n\u201cNow, almost ten years out of the basement and after having had his own TV shows on Fox Sports Network, WGN, SportSouth, and The Outdoor Channel, Ray is reuniting with outdoor partners Dennis Moot, Chris Tyler, and Don Kirk with newcomers Aaron Fultz and Jonathan Megal, to produce an all encompassing outdoors show, with the experience and texture that only this combination can bring.\u201d
\nArea residents may have seen Ray in the area before as he has traveled to QuestHaven Lodge on several occasions to film during Pennsylvania White-tailed deer season.
\nIn a previous Daily Herald article, Ray said his program has been on the air for the last dozen years and noted he and his crew enjoyed the paths in the area, liked the town and enjoyed the opportunity they had to hunt at QuestHaven Lodge.
