Nine TAHS students have qualified for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region III Chorus Festival to be held March 15-18.
\nThis year\u2019s festival will be co-hosted by the Richland Area and Conemaugh Township High Schools. The guest conductor will be Dr. Paul Rardin of the University of Michigan.
\nThe three day festival will begin with auditions for ranking and possible advancement to the All-State Chorus Festival to be held March 29 through April 1 in Valley Forge, PA. Only the top four chairs (places) are eligible to advance to this, the most prestigious chorus festival available to high school singers in Pennsylvania.
\nThe PMEA Region III Chorus consists of 178 students who represent over 60 high schools from Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Somerset, Centre, Clinton, Clearfield, Mifflin, Huntingdon, Fulton and Juniata counties. Students have earned the privilege to attend this festival by their high placement in their individual District festivals.
\nThe festival concludes with a public concert to be held at 1 p.m. in the Richland Area High School auditorium, Johnstown.
\nThose qualifying TAHS students are: Soprano II: Sofia Revolorio (grade 10) and Sarah Dane (grade 12); Alto I: Jessica Templeton (grade 12) and Courtney Russell (grade 12); Alto II: Stevie Woodring (grade 10) and Mary Raffetto (grade 12); Bass I: Evan Kost (grade 12) and Josh Shaffer (grade 11) and Bass II: Jonathan Harris (grade 10).
\nTAHS Choral Director, Catherine Young, said, \u201cThese nine extremely talented young musicians have worked extremely hard on this most challenging music. They have earned both our congratulations and respect. They represent not only our high school but the community of Tyrone in such a high manner.
