Warriors Mark supervisors are considering revisions to the township\u2019s zoning and land use\/subdivision ordinances.
\nLast year, the township adopted a zoning ordinance after working on the process for about two years. The township of about 1,600 already had a land use\/subdivision ordinance on the books prior to bringing in zoning. After the zoning ordinance went into effect, the supervisors also amended the land use\/subdivision ordinance.
\nChairman L. Stewart Neff said that after working with zoning ordinance for the last several months there were \u201cother considerations we should have probably caught earlier on.\u201d
\nHe said one area of concern was the part of the township known as the Village of Spring Mount. That area was zoned as residential\/rural. He said it should have been zoned as village or residential.
\nWarriors Mark is also looking at another part of the township to be rezoned.
\n\u201cGrier School, the majority lies in Birmingham Borough, but the rest of it is in Warriors Mark Township,\u201d said Neff. \u201cIt was zoned as agricultural. If the zoning is agricultural it puts undue limitations on the ability of the enhancement of education there. For the future growth of the school, there needs to be an area there provided for growth.\u201d
\nNeff said he was not sure how the area should be rezoned and the township would consult with its engineer and planner for advice.
\nRegarding the land use\/subdivision ordinance, the township is seeking to amend it so that the fire chief would review, comment and sign off on plans.
\nSupervisor Rodney Marshall said, \u201cIt is not required, but it is something that the township would like to have done.\u201d
\nNeff said having the fire chief\u2019s review would aid the department in providing fire protection.
\nThe township plans to seek the input of its engineer, solicitor, the county and township planning commissions and the public in the coming months before amending both ordinances. There will also be a public hearing on the proposed changes and the chance for the public to submit written comments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
