The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce has scheduled Lunch-n-Learn and Business After Hours events for the month of November.
\nThe Lunch-n-Learn is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Burley\u2019s Restaurant. The speaker will be Ann Brown from the state\u2019s Department of Labor and Industry.
\nBrown works for the department\u2019s Unemployment Compensation Tax Services. She is currently the tax office manager of the Altoona Field Accounting office, which serves employers in Blair, Bedford, Huntingdon and Centre counties.
\nHer presentation is titled \u201cUnderstanding Unemployment Compensation Tax.\u201d Brown will touch on a variety of issues including: how to keep unemployment compensation costs low; the Internet and unemployment compensation; the unemployment compensation rates and employee versus independent contractor concerns.
\nThe cost for the Lunch-n-Learn is $15. Seating is limited, and reservations are required.
\nAlso, the annual Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce Thanksgiving Dinner has been scheduled for Thursday, November 17 at the Bull Pen Restaurant.
\nThe dinner is part of the Chamber\u2019s Business After Hours events that are held at area businesses and organizations each month. The Bull Pen, The Daily Herald and the Richard and Ann Searer Funeral Home will once again be co-sponsors of the dinner.
\nAttendees are urged to bring their business cards to be selected for the many door prizes that will be awarded. The event is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m. and run until 7 p.m.
\nThe cost to attend is $5, and reservations must be made in advance.
