Chili lovers will find some tasty new entries in this year\u2019s \u201cSatan\u2019s Revenge ChiliFest\u201d which has been scheduled for Sunday at Burgi\u2019s Roundhouse Bar & Grille to benefit the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
\nThis year, the ChiliFest will debut new and different entries from restaurants such as Signatures with \u201cSignatures Back Nine\u201d chili and \u201cPar Three\u201d chili, The Heidelberg Country Club with \u201cHCC Tex\/Mex Style\u201d chili and \u201cThree Bean Chili\u201d, Fatty\u2019s Pub with \u201cPaint Peeling Chili\u201d and \u201cFowl Tasting Chili\u201d and the U.S. Hotel Restaurant & Tavern with \u201cHoly Habanero!\u201d chili.
\nOther familiar offerings will come from crowd favorite Rick Weidlich who will make an unprecedented fourth appearance representing the Altoona Fire Department. Weidlich\u2019s \u201cFlashover\u201d chili has won the \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice\u201d award for the past three years.
\nAlso scheduled for the event are returning restaurants Uriah\u2019s Pub, winner of last year\u2019s \u201cBest Bowl\u201d with their \u201cTijuana Red\u201d chili; The Phoenix, a previous \u201cBest Bowl\u201d winner, serving up their all-new variety \u201cRed Glare\u201d chili; the Bull Pen with \u201cBull Pen Chili\u201d; Racer\u2019s Sports Bar with \u201cPit Stop\u201d chili and \u201cCheckered Flag\u201d chili and host restaurant Burgi\u2019s Roundhouse with \u201cDiesel Fuel\u201d and \u201cSteam Engine\u201d chili.
\nThe event will also feature raffle prizes and a 50\/50. Zupe, has become the \u201cofficial\u201d entertainer for the event, according to Dave Hopkins, executive director of CPHS and ChiliFest event organizer.
\nThe local celebrity judging panel will include Daily Herald staff writer, Sam Zema.
\n\u201cOnce again Dave has called on me to put my taste buds to good use for a good cause and I heartily accept the challenge. I had a great time last year and look forward to it again,\u201d said Zema.
\nTickets for the all-you-can eat event are $12 and can be purchased at the CPHS shelter, the CPHS Thrift Shop, Chris\u2019 Hallmark, Thompson Pharmacy, V.I.P. Pets\/Aquarium and all competing restaurants\/pubs. They must be purchased in advance; none will be sold at the door.
